Damn young'uns and their ego.

If he walks up to you for any reason other than to apologize, clock him. He has already threatened and (mildly) assaulted you. Tell the girl to keep ID with her.

lol Yeah kinda. Or he was legal. I might still get beat up, cuz he is bigger than me, and I'm not a fighter, but then again, he's not a fighter either, as far as I know.

Yeah, well, I'd rather let it go than help it get more serious. If Stef still has trouble getting smokes from him, we will go to his manager and let him know what's going on.

lol I wish I could clock him one solid one, but I don't need to get myself in any legal trouble. I did tell the cop that if he tried anything again, I would be calling them back up.

And yes, I'm pretty sure she already does keep her ID with her. He simply never asked for it.

EDIT

Update: Lastnight I decided to go fuel up, in case I decided to go anywhere later in the evening. I got to the service station, and what do you know, but it's both Mark and Andrew working. Mark was outside already, and when I drove up, Andrew came out for a couple seconds, but then went back inside.

It's a full service station, but I started pumping my own fuel anyway. Figured if Andrew was inside, I wasn't going to go inside except to pay. By the time my tank was full (67 litres later), Mark was inside. I went in, glanced at Andrew for a half second, and he wasn't looking anywhere near me. So then I just paid, and walked out. Andrew never said a thing to me, and I never acknowledged that he was even there.

Personally, I'd rather be on good terms, but that'll be up to him to initiate, seeing as he started this whole fiasco. Until then, to me, he doesn't exist.

OK minor update.

I'm hoping things are on their way to getting better. The other day I stopped in at the service station, and Andrew was working. All I was doing was filling a couple tires with air, and when I got there another guy was using the air. When he finished, he handed me the hose and a pressure gauge, which he said belonged to the service station.

Anyways, I filled my tires, then took the gauge in, and Andrew was the one behind the counter. I put the gauge on the counter and asked if it was actually theirs, he looked at it and said that yes, it looked like it was.

He seemed to be in a decent mood, and he then commented on my hair, or lack of it. I used to have fairly long hair, as I'd been growing it for about two years from a buzz-cut. This past Saturday a friend buzzed it off, and then shaved it right off. So (although I can't remember what was said) Andrew made a comment about it, and although I was in a rush to get on my way, I replied quickly but nicely (I think).

So we'll see what happens next time he's working when I stop in. I hope things get better, seriously. I would appreciate an apology, but even if he appears to act as if the past is the past, I'll take that. Cuz honestly, I think I'm a decent enough guy to get along with. But, I still do have strings that can be pulled, and he found one! If he's let go now, I'm fine with that.

Is this the only gas station in town? Your friend should have definatly talked to the manager long before you got involved. Glad you did the right thing though and called the cops but I would have called the boss too. There is no need for someone being so unprofessional at work.

You know, stores have a right to refuse business. If she did not have her ID with her and he sold her smokes he could be fined, even if she is 18. Even if he knows her. As for him verbally and physically attacking you, he sounds like a cunt.

I'm not too hip to Canadian regulations, but I don't think you have to be 18 there to sell cigarrettes unlike here in the U.S. I think you only have to be 18 to buy 'em.

Yes, it is the only service station in town. Small town.

Seriously, I didn't expect things to go at all like they did. If I'd have had any clue that he'd be as stubborn as he was, I would have simply gone in myself and bought the smokes for her, and then we would have talked to the manager the next day. Oh well, go with the flow, I guess.

Yes, I realize that they do have the "right to refuse business". However, as I think I mentioned earlier, he did not at any time ask to see her ID. In which case he had no plausible reason to not sell her smokes.

Usually, he's a pretty decent, quiet guy, so he really surprised me those two times. I'm just not sure now if he's actually going back to his normal old self, or if he's just putting on an act so I don't bitch more. Time will tell.

Does it matter? She is not legally guaranteed the right to buy cigarettes from any store, but the store is legally guaranteed the right to refuse to sell her cigarettes. SO you were kind of in the wrong from the start. Might not be nice, might not be right, but thats just the way life is. If you would have just went to another store then there would be no drama. But, thinking you were zorro, you had to go start and argument over her rights to buy smokes, which she doesn't really have.

I'm just saying, not the most mature of moves.

Co-workers suck, this is an undesputable truth. If you figure hes bound to bother you again then you can either get some self-defense courses (if you believe its a serious problem) or you can just choose the ignore the whole issue.

DG: Like I already said in my last post (just above the part you quoted  ), if I would have realized it would have caused such a problem, I would have done differently. I'll admit that once it started, it was my ego that didn't let me back down. I could make a couple excuses for what I said, but they're just that: excuses.

As for going to another store, well, that'd be an expensive pack of smokes! Closest other store that sells smokes is ten miles down the highway, and a round trip there and back would cost me about five bucks! Like I said, I should have simply gone in and bought them myself.

Hindsight's 20/20, though. Oh well, like I said, things maybe be closer to normal now. Haven't seen him for a few days, though.

Runningflame: I can't afford to pay for self-defense courses. Otherwise I might do that. Not because of this, at all, though; I simply wouldn't mind being able to defend myself, as I am a fairly small guy. However, for the most part, I am easy to get along with, and try to avoid confrontations. So really, I haven't yet had to defend myself physically. Hopefully things stay that way for a long long time.

EDIT: BTW, smokes in Canada are not as cheap as in the States. Cheapest (gross tasting) smokes are about nine or ten bucks for a pack of twenty-five, and the better ones are just under thirteen bucks for a pack! So driving ten miles one way would make that a fifteen to eighteen dollar pack of smokes! In my opinion, that's a little much.

Well knowing me I would have gone to the police and if they did nothing with in a matter of twenty four hours I would go for the manager. And inform him that one of his employers has brought personal issues to work and thathe wouldnt sell a product to a customer. that is what I would do. But that is me not too sure if you would goo that far.

Nope. At first I would've, but I do cool off fairly quickly. Then I just wanted him to know that I seriously didn't like being grabbed like that.

UPDATE: I saw Andrew at a party last weekend, and talked to him for a bit. He still appears a little upset that I called the cops on him, but we seem to be back to normal for the most part. Which is good; that's all I wanted.
