Damn young'uns and their ego.

Had a bit of an incident today. But it goes back a couple days.

On Sunday, a friend told me that one of the guys at the local service station wouldn't sell her smokes. She's legal, has photo ID to prove it, and he knows she's legal. Hell, they're in the same fucking grade (grade twelve) in the same damn school!

So, since he was working (alone) that day, Stef asked me if I'd buy her a pack of smokes. I said that no, I wouldn't, because it's stupid that she should have to get someone else to buy her smokes. I said I'd go with her and make Andrew sell them to her.

So we go over there, go in, and she asked for a pack. He wouldn't sell 'em to her. He said he'd sell 'em to me, but not to her. I told him that he frickin' knows she's legal, just sell her the smokes. He refused. She counted a bunch of change out onto the counter, and he just slid it right back at her. When she shoved it back to him, he slid out one coin and pushed it to me, saying that if I touched that single coin, he'd sell her the smokes.

Fuck, I wasn't going to drop to his level. I refused, and he insisted several times that I simply touch the one coin. I was starting to get fed up, especially since we were in a little bit of a rush, and finally told him to "sell her the fucking smokes!"

A couple more people came in right then, and I kept insisting. Finally he pulled out a pack of smokes, dropped the change off the counter into his hand, then looked at me and said, "You better hope I don't see you after work!"

I simply replied "You won't", and Stef and I left. I was kinda pissed off at him, but really thought nothing of the whole thing. Didn't see him again, until today, Wednesday.

Stef was going to get fuel, so I hopped in the car with her, as I had to pick up a phone card. Pulled up to the pumps, on the passenger side, my side, with the building on the same side. I hopped out, and hadn't even gotten to the back of the car, when Andrew walks up.

"Well look who's here," he said, just before he grabbed my sweater, shoved me up against the car and pinned me there.

Just a couple peices of info, here. I'm 22, he's 17. But, I'm about 5'5", 125 pounds, he's damn close to six feet, probably about 160 pounds. Skinny fucker, but still bigger than me. And then he's still a minor.

Anyways, he had me pinned for a few seconds, only, but long enough to make another threat. I can't remember fuck all of what he actually said, as he really surprised me, and I was thinkin' of whether I should sock him one or not. I decided against it, and don't think I even said anything before he let go of me. I can't remember what he said, but I do remember it was a threat. Don't ask me how I remember that it was a threat without remembering what he said, but I do. The tone of his voice, maybe. His facial expression.

After we left there, I got my own vehicle and was going past the shop where I work, when I realized that the evening shift would be on lunchbreak. I stopped in there and was ranting about what happened, and said I was going to talk to the bosses there in the morning. Then the one guy, coincidentally by the name of Andrew, said I should just go right to the cops.

So, I went and got my beer, came home, and called the cops. No answer. Left a message, but they haven't called back yet. An hour or so ago I drove down there, but no one was there. There's only three local cops, so I drove by their places...but couldn't figure out which one's supposed to be working tonight. Oh well, I'll call them in the morning, and then go over there right after work. I want to see that fucker fired. He can try to find somewhere else to work. haha There is nothing else here.

Funny thing is, IF he would have done that elsewhere, then I most likely wouldn't have done anything. Most likely couldn't have done anything. But, seeing as he lost his cool and literally (although mildly) assaulted me at his place of work, while he was working, I will do what I can to get him fired, and possibly charged. Another thing I just remembered, also, is that there is a security camera pointed right at the pumps, so most likely it caught at least a glimpse of what happened, albeit from a bad angle.

Anyways, I guess this got long, but I just had to let it out. I'll update later, after I talk to the cops.

EDIT
Talked to a cop today, finally, and basically all he said was that he would talk to Andrew, let him know that I had talked to the cops, and tell him to just lay off. I said that was fine, seeing as I'm settled down (somewhat) now, and said that I would ignore him as much as possible. Honestly, I don't care whether he just leaves me alone, and that's that, or if I end up having to press charges.

I told the cop, though, that if I did happen to cross paths with Andrew, and he started something again, I would be calling them up again. He said that if that did happen, I would have reason to actually press charges.

So that's that, right now. I'll ignore Andrew, and hopefully he leaves me alone. I was just surprised that he was still mad from three days previous. I didn't even really do anything! Thing is, it's not like it was a legal issue with the cigarettes, as he would sell them to me, and he knew I would simply hand them right to Stef. It was just a personal thing between him and Stef, as far as I can tell.

On that matter, we'll see if he still won't sell her smokes. If he doesn't, I'll tell Stef to go talk to the manager, and let him know about it. Then Andrew would be in shit.

Anyways, hopefully nothing more will happen.

im not entirely sure i understand...

you talked to the COPS but NOT to his boss?!?!

you should KNOW the cops wont do a goddamn thing

did you give up on the whole boss thing, or what?
GET. HIM. FIRED!

Yeah the Popo dont do shit, lol. This guy sounds like a genuine, grade-A asshat! I would DEFINATELY press charges if this dipshit screws with you again...and btw i think you should have laid him out on the ground when he grabbed you.

If you hate the guy enough, just stage something for you tp happen to be where he is at the same time (preferably at work). Then he will probably get pissy acted and continue to say shit. And when that happens, thats when you press the chargers and do what you want to do. Yea, I know, its prick, but what the hell.

Or, you could just simply attempt to kick his ass. He may be bigger than you, but once again, what the hell, go for it.

mdot: he did the right thing. If he talked to Andrew's boss and got fired, guess who's the first person Andrew would run to? Bracham...that's right! And he wouldn't be looking for a little chat either. Even if Andrew's boss wouldn't have fired him. You can bet Bracham would still get beaten up just for ratting on him. By going to the cops, the first warning is out there. No they won't do anything with threats, but if Bracham is threatened again or worse, the police will take some action if not arrest him for a criminal act. it might just be what this Andrew needs. A good slap in the face or some butt lovin' by Bubba.

valid point... dropping the soap w/bubba behind you would definitely suck a big hairy (this is of course, if you're totally opposed to that sort of thing)

BUT: i would still talk to his boss about it... if he got fired and came after his ass, than he would really have a good reason to call the 5.0

he harrasses guys in the parking lot, AT WORK?!?
if i ran a business, that would NOT fly...
if i were there at the time, and saw this take place, I would have talked to the "manager"
then i would have jumped in with rusty treble hook

fuck, do both (i mean talk to po-po and manager, please disregard the rusty treble hook comment)

thats some ho ass shit

No, the cops won't do much with this, but they will talk to him, which will let Andrew know that I won't take anything lightly, unless it's meant in humor, which this wasn't.

At first I was just going to talk to his boss, but then after I described what happened to a couple coworkers, the one guy said I should rather call the cops, and that way they have a record of it, and they will talk to Andrew's boss if they feel the need.

Tonight I stopped in there again tonight, and the same lady was working as tonight, so I asked her if Andrew had said anything after I left lastnight. She said no, and then asked what had actually happened. I explained the whole thing to her, and she said she didn't realize that's what had happened; she thought that we were just jostling each other.

So then there was this other kid working there tonight, by the name of Mark. Here's as close to our conversation as I can remember.
Mark: So why would you call the cops on Andrew?
Me: Well, he assaulted me, what was I supposed to do?
Mark: Well, fight him?
Me: I don't need to get in shit.
Mark: Well, what goes around comes around.
Me: So what you gonna call the cops on me for? I don't do anything.
Mark: *shrugs* Meh, whatever. Just can't take a joke, eh?
Me: Oh come on. A joke? With two related incidents, three days apart, and it still hasn't come out that it's a joke? *laughs*
Mark: Well what about when you get mad at someone?
Me: I don't take it out on people. I used to, ten or twelve years ago, but not anymore. I take it out on stuff. I quit taking my anger out on people before I hurt anyone seriously.

I think there were a couple other comments by either of us, but I can't remember. I left, then, slightly pissed off at Mark, now. Had my keys in my hand, and hucked them as hard as I could at the back door, even thinking to miss the windows.

That's it so far. Now the only thing I'm slightly worried about is that Andrew might have a couple friends with him next time he sees me, and decide to try something. Hopefully he cools off, but we'll see what happens.

EDIT
I remembered something else Mark said. It's common knowledge in town that myself and my siblings have all been homeschooled, and some people seem to not agree with it. I'm pretty sure this is what Mark was basing this comment off of.

"You just haven't been in the real world long enough; don't know what it's like yet."

I'm not sure I said anything to that, but I did at least roll my eyes at him. But goddamn, if this 17 year old guy thinks he can tell me more about real life than I already know, he doesn't know much. I've lived on my own, paid all my own bills; been in a couple vehicle accidents, my fault and not; gotten fines, which I've paid; and who knows what else. One thing I know, though, is that if I do something that is against the law, I can expect consequences to follow. That's why I try to follow the law as much as possible.

As a kid still in school, he knows next to nothing about the real world. A part-time job gives him the money he needs for most things. No bills, except possibly car payments. If he got into trouble with the law, he'd get a "slap on the wrist". He's the one who will have a shock when he gets into the "real world".

It's a shame the situation escalated into something much bigger than anyone probably expected.

Have you asked Andrew why he won't sell smokes to Stef? If he's willing to answer, it might be an interesting story, and could defuse the situation. Or at least show his motivation, which could help in understanding why he was/is making just a big deal about a minor situation.

What I want to know is how he's working at a gas station selling cigarettes if he's only 17. All of the stores I know that sell smokes require you to be 18 to be employed.

Well, you should've asked to see the manager...I'm sure he wouldn't appreciate his little joke.

I don't understand why he wouldn't sell her the cigarettes. Thats not even funny.

Yea, I agree with everyone else on this one.

You should have seen the manager about the issue with him not selling her cigarettes and his behavior towards you. That could have possibly taken care of him. Then going to the police to complain about the threats and all of that good stuff was right too.

Would it work? Who knows, but it would definitely be worth a shot.

Latest update:

The cop called me back yesterday afternoon, and said that he talked to Andrew. Andrew said he'd avoid me and leave me alone. So, we'll see how things go there.

Otherwise, now it seems most of the young'uns in town are mad at me that I called the cops about the incident. Kinda weird, cuz it seems that anyone eighteen and under sides with Andrew, and anyone over eighteen sides with me. Not like I really care, though. The friends I do have who are a little younger do agree with me.

So hopefully this is over. Time will tell, though.

Thanks for the comments! Helps me know I'm not going wacko or anything!

Makes you wish you were a minor so you could bust him right in the chops huh? lol but if what you said was true and you dont take anger out on people (which is great) then you did the right thing.

Me, Ima stubborn one. I would be calling his manager every single day. And to egg him on, Id go in there with Stef every day he works so she can Buy some smokes. Funny shit. Good luck with it all dude, I commend you for not breakin his neck right then and there.
