A little dicky bird tells me that they are making a movie based on the late 70's/early 80's TV phenomenon that was Dallas.
I loathe most soaps, but i am almost embarrassed to admit that I was a fan of Dallas. It was ahead of it's time, and paved the way for new dynamic soap lines. Modern shows such as Bad Girls, Footballers Wives and even older shows such as Corrie and Emmerdale owe a lot to Dallas: It introduced scheming, bitching, double crossing and murder to our daily TV diet. And the scriptwriters and the actors were superb, especially Larry Hagman as the ultimate soap villain, J.R. Ewing.
Well, i'm not sure that a movie re-make is going to work, but if the rumours are true, John Travolta is going to play JR, and that gives me some hope, as he plays a decent villain. Not sure about Jennifer Lopez as Sue Ellen though. Linda Gray's version is a lot to live up to.
Does anyone here remember the show? What are your thoughts on the upcoming movie?
