Daft Punk&Leiji Matsumoto's Interstella 5555:5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem-Talkback

Damn, I really wish I had a job so I could purchase the DVD. I've been waiting two years to see what happened after the evil manager changed the band from green aliens to human-type beings.

I couldn't find it in stores so, I ordered it online through Best Buy. It should be here by the end of the week...god I am SO anxious....

Saw it in Fukuoka last month. It's so much fun, and the ending is just fantastic, really sweet. I am definitely going to AX Tokyo as the guitar-ship hero guy. High points for me were Nightvision,
when the guitarship dude first sees the band on the wall
, Superheroes, where he
FLIES TO THE RESCUE
, the Daft Punk cameo, and some other things I'm forgetting. But really the best part of Matsumoto's work is the little touches, especially the children, like the kid dropping the potato chip (you know that's the reaction you would have!). The little kiRAB dressed up as the band made the movie for me, including when they
paint themselves blue
at the end. It's good to see another really positive view of the future.

One way I interpreted the film was as Matsumoto's commentary on imported culture. It could be said that the mind-controlled band are meant to represent foreign art changed and "adapted" for foreign audiences, and Matsumoto ultimately comes out on the side of honest, unmediated cultural exchange, which is obviously not surprising given the international origins of the project. I also thought it was nice that Matsumoto had France win the soccer game.

Meh...I haven't gotten a chance to finish it yet, due to the fact I don't own a copy. It's on my Christmas list, though, so I'll be done pretty soon. So far, it is AWESOME.

It has been a month, so some details might be wrong, but I'll do my best.

As I recall that video saw the producer guy realizing that he'd been duped by the evil guy and offering his help to the aliens. Then the Earth population is exposed to the reality that aliens had landed on their planet in the form of the exploited Crescendolls, causing shock but ultimately waves of support (this is where the kid watching the news report on TV drops his potato chip ) The Earthlings excavate the guitarship, restore the bandmerabers' appearances and full memories, and prepare the ship for departure from Earth for the bluepeople's homeworld.

I think that's it, but I'm probably leaving some stuff out at the beginning. My memory about the end of Veridus Quo is kinda fuzzy.

Along with the truth about the Cresendolls, I think the producer guy also found out, via the Veridus Quo, the truth that many great performers who died while at their peak (i.e. Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain) were really aliens who, like the Cresendolls, were kidnapped by the evil guy as part of his plan to take over the universe.

Bought mine today, gonna watch it as soon as I can get my DVD replaced.

to those who don't know, (at least in Best Buy) it's filed UNder the Music Videos secion under Daft Punk, you won't find it in anime.

Gwha. I really want to see it now. But, my dad won't give it to me until Christmas. I really want to see Digital Love again, and my sister wants to see Something About Us...

Dang

I thought this was where this was gonna be a fight between the Hero and the Producer or the Evil dude you mentioned

Well i'll see for myself

Just finished seeing it...

WOW. Thank god for Matsumoto and Daft Punk. Matsumoto really made a great story in under 62 mins. I am impressed. The animation was also nice. Was it just me or
did I notice a lil CGI like during the part where the hero pilot sees the Crescendolls on the billboard?

The music rocked, JUST like I expected it too. What was werid for me is that on Discovery, I had always dreamt it as a traveling song. Like watching the days go by and lo and behold they have the beginning scenes just like that. Amazing.

Too Long wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was wondering how they would pull it off.

Seeing
the whole world actually help the aliens was a bit of a shocker to me...I can't see our planet being THAT nice..

Great movie. Great dvd. Well worth the 13 to 15 bucks in my opinion. NOW, bring on a new cd from Daft Punk.

Later

Oh and just in case anyone is wondering the names for our fave characters are:

-Shep the fighter pilot/hero
-Stella the female guitarist/heroine
-Octave the keyboardist
-Baryl the drummer
-Arpegius the male guitarist

Unfortunately, I don't know the name of the evil dude.

And I got the names from the official site www.daftpunk.com. They are SOON to be selling mini action figures of the whole band plus Shep. Awesomeness.
