to be honest the decision to make the film at all was a mistake, yes it's a popular book but I really can't imagine the plot translating very well. Angels and demons on the other hand....
In Italian, when a "c" is followed by "i" or "e" it has a soft pronunciation - somewhere between "sh" and "ch". When it is followed by a, o, u, or any consonant it has a hard pronunciation, as "k". This is a hard and fast rule in the Italian language, so when you say it should be spelt vinchi, I'm afraid you are totally wrong, Praxidike! That would be pronounced Vinki.
Robert Langdon - Gabriel Byrne or Harrison Ford - Tom Hanks just seems wrong in the part Sophie - Rachel Weisz or Saffron Burrows Teabing - I agree with Ian McKellen Fache - Kevin Spacey, but I think Jean Reno will be ok Silas - to me Paul Bettany just seems as odd choice becasue I thought of Silas as really big built and menacing (like the albino twins from The Matrix film)
Oh well, just thought I'd put my two pennies worth in
I agree, really not too sure about Tom Hanks but could see Viggo Mortensen.
Think A.T looks good but could see Sophie Marceau in the role too.
I like Tom Hanks in general but I really dont think he is right for this.
LOVED the book!!!
I could see Gabriel Byrne, liked him in Stigmata.
Think A.T looks ok but like Sophie Marceau
I like Jean Reno.
I think Paul Bettany looks fantastic and I really like him.
I think the casting is really good but I cannot see Tom Hanks as Robert and didnt think so when I saw the trailor. He just looks wrong!
I agree that Liam Neeson would be better suited to the character. However, Tom Hanks is a fantastic actor and I'm sure he will be great even if he isn't quite how we imagined.
I can't remember the name of the actress who is playing Sophie but she looks perfect to me. Although Rachel Weisz would've also been good.
Apparently they originally wanted Bill Paxton as Langdon.
I recently reread the book with the movie cast in mind. I can't make Tom Hanks work, or Audrey Tautou either. She looks too fragile and brittle in the photos I've seen.
I can see Iain McKellen camping Teabing up perfectly, though.
I hear on my own Imaginary Movie Grapevine that Legendary Oscar winner Bruce Campbell was the first choice to play Langdon, and Bafta Nominee Pam St. Clement was in the frame for Sophie. Unfortunately both felt uncomfortable working on such a low budget film. So Mr No Chin Hanks got the part.
Some bits of the film were filmed in Lincoln cathedral because when I went, you weren't aloud in this room because of the filming. (Sorry if this is already posted )
