I'm struggling to pick between these and could use some help, particularly in the absence of full English reviews of the D900.
My usage is, making calls. I hardly text, probably average one or two a day, MP3 playback is of no concern, I hardly use the web and I occasionally take pictures.
A nice camera is a bonus rather than key to the decision, the phones seem easy to rank in that area.
Ease of use is important, I like the way the 6680 works. It’s a little slow though.
Things of key importance to me are:
Battery life – it seems to be average on all of them, not sure about the D900 yet. My 6680 was fine for this, a charge every 3 days.
Build quality – I take good care of my phone, but the occasional slip is going to happen, the E900 in particular looks delicate.
Phone book – I like good syncing with Outlook / Outlook express (I have 400 contacts) and the ability to hold at least 3 numbers per contact. I really like the way my 6680 handles this. I got a Motorola L6 and it’s terrible on this front.
Style – Obviously this is purely subjective. The E900 and KG800 seem quite a bit ahead of the D900.
Easy to use interface – I’m finding it very hard to pin down differences between the E900 and D900, is that just because they are very similar? The KG800 is supposed to react very quickly, which sounds nice. The E900 seems to have a reputation for being slow. There seems to be more complaints about the E900’s buttons than the KG800, despite them both being touch sensitive.
Price – I've quoted prices below, any ideas how long the D900 will take to drop to the E900 price level?
Size – I like to be able to put the phone in my front pocket and not notice it. This is where the 6680 suffers. I think they are all small enough, the D900 being visually bigger, though I’m not sure it actually is in volume terms due to being so thin.
Call quality – I would guess they are all fine though I’ve seen a few negative comments on the E900. How about when using built-in hands free mode? I don’t think the LG has that option.
Prices I'll be paying for the phones (the phones are actually free but the cheapest way to get them is to take a new contract so that's the price I'm quoting below). I'm in the UK, I've converted to USD at the current rate of 1.9, remember these prices include sales tax of 17.5% so they aren't as bad as they seem.
D800 - ?100, $190 (this is a clearance phone so I may not get the box and all the accessories)
KG800 - ?125, $238 (this is a clearance phone so I may not get the box and all the accessories)
E900 - ?162, $308
D900 - ?270 - $513
Are there any other phones I should consider given my priorities? I'm inclined to go for a slide or flip phone rather than candybar.
