D900, k800i, or k790a?

I have read reviews and etc, but I still cannot decide which phone to get. Yes, I did search this forum but found very little help.

I live in FL, travel sometimes but only around the SE part of USA. I don't think I would need a quad band but I really don't know much about quad band, that's why I'm asking.

I have about 1 yr left with T-mobile, will stick with them afterwards.

I'm gonna use all the features: mp3 player, camera, phone, maybe games, and etc.

Right now price doesn't really matter since I'm not gonna get it right away but later on.

I'm thinking about just getting the k800i, since I think I don't really need quad band but the D900 looks cool.

Another question: Do any sites like plemix have sales at all?

Thanks for any help.

Well, unless the K800i is a lot cheaper then the K790a (say, because there will no doubt be more K800's laying around) then you will always want GSM 850 in North America...just in case you happen to go somewhere where the coverage is low. You just never know if you'll need to make an emergency call from inside a building...so its recommended. That being said, if there is a price difference, then its not worth the price. As for the Samsung vs. SE, the SE UI seems much better then Samsung's, and the SE has a true camera flash.

So, would the GSM 850 work in basement levels? Because sometimes I go to conferences with my friends and sometimes they are in the hotels 2 floors down. If it would work then I guess I would get the k790a.

It will work a heck of a lot better. I know with my 1900 only Hiptop2 I often lose service our go to one bar whenever I enter a building...sometimes it recovers and depending on the building, its sometimes only affected a little. GSM 850 generally will perform much better in these environments.

If you like the slider form factor the D900 is a solid phone. Plus if you are in the US and you travel both within and outside the US and plan to take your phone with you, quadband is a must.

Also if expandable memory is important, the D900 uses microSD which is much more readily available than the proprietary Memory Stick M2 format of Sony. You should be able to go up to 2GB on the microSD while the highest M2 is 1GB and even those are not easy to find.

Now if the camera is the most important factor then the K790a should be your choice hands down because of the xenon flash, auto stablizer and auto-focus.

Because you are using T-Mobile you can probably be a bit flexible with what SE Cybershot version to get, but I'd say in the US the K790a is the most practical because T-Mo has 850 MHz roaming agreements across the US, which cover significant gaps in their coverage areas.

If you decide to get the "international" 900MHz version instead, I'd opt for the K790i over the K800i, simply because the K800i version of 3G is useless in the US, even if you switch to Cingular and get thier 3G services, it won't work because they are on HSDPA 3G.

You would be much better off with the EDGE on the K790a or the K790i.

So bottom line is if you want better memory card choices, quadband and slider get the D900.

If camera is the most important factor then the K790a would be the best choice for use on T-Mobile in the US. If you travel outside the US and plan to take your phone then you might be able to get away with the K790i.

I's say forget about the K800i entirely because it lacks EDGE unless you have 3G in Europe or something.

^After reading what you posted. Now it's a bit hard to choose.

I want the Samsung because it's a slider and right now is cheaper than the K790a, so later on it'll probably still be cheaper.

I don't think I would need EDGE because I'm not going to use internet with my phone.

I would like to have a good camera as a backup because I never seem to have my camera, or forget it, whenever I want to use it.

Hmm....tough decision.

Let me ask some questions which might make it easier.

Which one has better battery life? Which one is easier to "mod" per say? Which one would you say is more mulitmedia type? Thanks again.
