I went to the ER on Thursday with chest pains, heart palpitations, the sweats, low-grade fever, nausea, tingling sensations in my arm and fingers....Upon arrival my blood pressure was 188/96 and my pulse was 137 which is way out of the norm for me. They ran a few blood tests and did a chest x-ray. I'm assuming my chest xray came back normal because nothing was said one way or another. My EKG showed tachycardia (rapid heart beat) and my D Dimer test showed positive. I was admitted to the hospital for 24 hour observation. The only medication I was given was (1) 81mg aspirin and some oral potassium. They did nothing about my blood pressure and said it wasn't that bad. But to me 188/96 is pretty high. They never did a cardiac consult and I was discharged without a diagnoses as to what was going on with me. Can anyone better explain what could be going on? I'm so confused. Everything that I looked up about the D dimer test didn't leave me feeling great about what could be wrong. And it was def positive because they ran three different test 9 hours apart.
