Cyst biopsy

This didn't seem to *fit* anywhere else, so I apologize if it is out of place...

I had a biopsy of a cyst today and it is driving me crazy. Here are the details:
- Had it for 7 years with no problems
- Began to hurt, had heat in it, etc. starting a week ago
- Dr. appt this morning - she drained it. She thought it was just irritated, but saw pus when she opened it and prescribed Cephalexin to treat an infection
- She clearly didn't like what she was seeing and chose to collect a sample to send to the lab. She was very vague - I asked her was she was looking for and she said she just wanted to check it.

My question: what is she checking for? Should I be worried? If it looks like an infection and you are treating it like an infection, why send stuff to the lab?

While I know that it is probably nothing, I am thinking all kinds of bad thoughts here. Anything that will help calm me down would be much appreciated!

Thanks.

Anything a doctor removes from your body is usually sent to a lab for further diagnosis. She gave you an antibiotic because she saw pus and assumed an infection, which is probably correct. However, she probably wants to culture the pus and be certain she's prescribing the correct antibiotic for the bacteria you have. Hope you get better quickly!
