I just got back from seeing this comedy. I really enjoyed it. It has three main leaRAB and all three were strong. if the Academy took any notice of comedies I would say that there were at least two that could be in with a shot for an nomination.

It's an dark comedy but it's also an interesting film in it's own right. As I say the acting is strong and the relationship between Cyrus and hismom is an strange but intriguing one. This could easilt be seen as a drama as much as a comedy and it would still work.

Very enjoyable

I have been looking at this because I think John C Reilly and Marisa Tomei are very good, especially in comedic roles, but it is Jonah Hill, that gives me trepidation I have never actually found him funny in anything he has done and since he is a main character it makes me unsure about the whole film.
 
Jonah is a main character but he's in the film less than the other two. I think it's such an unusual film that a lot of people won't find it funny. I think a lot of people would be expecting Cyrus to be a bit like a character played by Adam Sandler.
This film with a very slight tweaking could be a kind of The hand that rocked the cradle kind of film..
 
I haven't watched this film yet, but I really want to! Just wanted to know if you've watched The Puffy Chair, as it's a very different film from the same directors and if so did you like it and was it similar to Cyrus; The Puffy Chair was very hard to get into and a bit boring for me so hopefully Cyrus isn't like that.
 
I didn't enjoy it. I thought it was going to be more like stepbrothers but it wasn't really that kind of comedy, in fact it's more like a drama. Maybe if I went in expecting this rather than a laugh out loud comedy I would have enjoyed it more.
 
Agree with this - thought it was 'okay' but as you said, if I had gone in expecting it to be more of a drama than comedy as it seems to state then I probably would've enjoyed it more. Very few laughs in the screen I was in and even saw a few people walk out.
