Cymbalta withdrawal

Hi Gocolts,
Well, my story actually got a lot worse before it got better after that January post. You are very lucky that you had informed people weaning you off the Cyrabalta. In my own case I ended up having to go to a psychiatrist (the ones who really know psych drugs) in order to get off of it. I had 3 different other docs telling me different ways to wean....all of which were not correct. I hope your symptoms remain very mild....best of luck to you.

55 pellets....headache, anxious, fatigue but most of all, definitely an increase in pain. Maybe today would have been a bad day anyway, who knows. But the pain today is the worse in quite some time. Not only do I have the nerve pain today but also some lower back pain :( I'll continue on as tolerated and keep you updated.

Hi everyone,
W/C approved me to see the neurologist that was recommended to me by the doctor who did the EMG. He is not in W/C network so there was a question whether I could see him or not. But I see him on Feb. 13 and hopefully he can come up with the magic corabo of drugs to manage the nerve pain!
The long term drug company that W/C uses called last week to find out what meRAB I was on. Then they called back this week and said that the surgeon had refused to Rx all of them because some he had not prescribed and some I was not on??!!! So, I called his nurse yesterday and left a message for him with the Rx #'s and dates. He called me this AM at 8:30 and wanted to know what was going on. Wasn't a good morning for me, the pain was pretty bad....so I uncorked (in a nice way). I told him I'm still in pain, my quality of life sucks, I take drugs every day, I have 4-6 good hours per day and they are spent at work, and I am just tired of it. He seemed a little stunned but understanding and said he doesn't Rx narcotics and that he needed to get me hooked up with someone else. I told him we were trying to do that (evidently he never read the office notes from the EMG doc who is in the SAME practice!) so he said he would write our conversation down and fax it to W/C immediately. So I got my call back this afternoon with my appt!
Anyway, I dumped 60 Cyrabalta pellets this AM. Only symptoms are the pain, some teariness and mild anxiety. I have 2 weeks to try to finish up with the taper and hopefully I can get off by my appt.
I hope everyone is good today. Thanks to all on this board for helping me to stay sane throughout all this!!

Did you get the dizziness on the meRAB by chance? I am having intermittent dizziness. Last night it was so bad that my hubby made me sit on the couch and drink a gallon of orange juice (well maybe that is an exaggeration but it seemed like it) and he almost made me go to the doctors. He was so worried. Since I have started cyrabalta, I have experienced this on 3 occassions.

Deb, I see the doc on 2/6.

Hey, light bulb moment, I was having balance issues before I started cyrabalta maybe 1 or 2 times -- since starting the cyrabalta I am having balance issues 2 to 4 times a day. Could this be related??

I am off to read side effects.

Someone suggested that I post on the Drug and Addiction board of HealtrabroadoarRAB and I did about the Cyrabalta withdrawal. I got a good response. It seems that many patients have resorted to opening the capsules and tapering very slowly. That makes me feel a little better about the way I am doing this!

Thanks Deb for keeping us updated on this mediation. It sounRAB like you need to go slow and steady. Good luck and I pray that things go easier for you and that you do not suffer alot of pain from the withdrawal.

I had exactly the same problem, Deb...including the doctor who recommended I taper off in a week! The Cyrabalta did not help my nerve pain and I couldn't take the side effects (which I don't remeraber, at this point, I've tried so many different nerve pain drugs). I didn't experience the withdrawal symptoms until I had been off Cyrabalta for about 3 days. Then I got REALLY sick....so sick I had to cancel a business trip. Doctor insisted it was not the Cyrabalta. I went back on the drug and tapered on my own. I took WEEKS to do it, and was counting the granules just like you. Even after all that, I still went through a bit of a withdrawal after I stopped. IMO, that drug is really insidious.

gocolts, you put a term to something I've experienced and can't put into worRAB ..... brain zaps. I've tried to describe them to people and the best I can come up with is "fireworks in my head".

I've noticed them when I've missed just a couple of doses of my "meRAB cocktail", but coudn't narrow it down to the Cyrabalta.

People on this thread talk about the scary side effects of Cyrabalta and the terrible withdrawal symptoms. Could somebody tell me what these are?

Thanks!
