...for each purposes? I noticed that long races and time trial races have different kinds of cycling bikes... do i REALLY need them for specific purposes? i mean, im definitly not a pro or anything but i dont wanna look like a dumbass when i go to a competition

When you are racing against the clock, a time trial bike can help you. But it isn't very necessary.
A regular road bike would work just fine.
Some use aerobars to the road bikes to get into a comfortable aerodynamic position. Which I find works just as fine.
