Current cartoon theme songs vs. older ones

Back in the day, the theme songs to cartoons weren't all that great, but we now have them ingrained as pop culture for the most part. Some songs on current shows are decent, but the rest all seem kind of...blah. Ben 10 is one that I like as it seems to hearken back to those cartoons of the 1980's with the hip, catchy themes. Some shows don't really have themes, but just opening narratives. The Genndy Tartatovsky/Craig McCracken shows have always used music in a great way as far as opening themes as well.

Theme songs for cartoon have always been a mixed bag throughout the years, being narratives, fun cute jingles, or popular genres of the time.

One of the things i like about anime are their theme songs. I want to do something like that when I make an animated series.

It depends on the themesong some of my cartoon themes are tiny toon adventures , animanices , chip and dale resuce rangers , ducktales , tale spin , aladdin , hercules , the little mermaid , winnie the poor , gummi bears flintstones , scooby doo , top cat , jetsons , addams family transformers and teenage mutant ninja turtles , muppet babies and attaxkk of the killer tomatoes are some of my favs themes

I can't really say that the cartoon themes from one era are better or worse than another; for me, it depends on the show itself. I've heard decent themes and mediocre or bad ones from every decade, so I can't generalize like that.

Among my favorite cartoon show themes (from birth to present day):

The Banana Splits (not a cartoon, but it had animated segments)
Ewoks
Droids
Bleach (first series opening)
Galaxy High School
The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley
Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers
Justice League
Mission Hill
Space Goofs

The teme songs has been good as they ever been IMO. It could just be me but I have noticed that cartoons from 15+ years ago used scenes from the show in the theme song while most modern cartoons have original animation.

The only real difference between the theme songs of today and the theme songs of yesteryear is that in general, theme songs now seem to be shorter then the ones from the 70's/80's. I mean there are still minute long themes, but there are more 30 second one today in order to give show/commerical run more time. But yeah just as there were lame/good theme songs years ago, there's the same mix today depending on which show you're referring to.

I tend to like older theme songs alot more. I can't think of more than one or two shows from the 2000's with theme songs, or in most cases, ANY music, that I like. That's probably just because I don't like much modern music in general though.
Most of my favourite themes come from the 80's.
