Current Bands we will be talking about in 25yrs

"Son, this newfangled music is crap. You should listen to some Classic Rock/Metal from my day like Coheed And Carabria and Black Tide." :bringit: Classic Rock of this day will become... I dunno. What WILL happen with what is currently classic rock?

Don't get me wrong, lot's of eras of music have had many bad or unheard of banRAB, I am sure not a lot of people have heard of the Budgie's or the Montrose's of the 70's, heck even a band like J Geil's isn't known to the mainstream of music listeners. And band's of that ilk do still exist today but it's the big band's like the Led Zeppelin's that are still remerabered today; and what I am saying is the big band's and artist's of this generation, the Nickleback's or the John Mayer's or the Lady Gaga's, just won't have the same longevity as the Zepp's or the Hendrix's or the Pink Floyd's because their music just isn't as unique or interesting as it's ancestors.

Are they being talked about now? Only bit of news they've made is they've been dropped after 1 single and then signed with someone else.

If they last a year I'll be surprised. They are everything that's wrong with popular music. But surely he was being sarcastic?

yeah I will be talking about how much banRAB suck today and will do anything to promote themselves and make money and become *** all banRAB suck on the radio

There are so many variables that come into play when speculating about a question like this. It only takes one bad album, or a hugely successful one for that matter, to bury a band, and one great album to set an artist's career on a new and improved trajectory, but my predictions are:

TV on the Radio
Fleet Foxes
Animal Collective
Dirty Projectors
Arcade Fire

I am sure I will get flamed for this one, NICKELBACK is a band that will be gaining even more fans 25 years from now, their style of pop rock would be the most likely style to stay up with the times compared to say...other genres & labels like Indie, who can only guess where the country music genre will be in 25 years from now, I do think that Nickelback has already made their mark in the history of rock and has already secured a place in the rock & roll hall of fame, my other pick would have to be '3 Doors Down', they will still retain fans 25 years from now, and the hall of fame also.

It seems that it is a prerequisite here to hate Nickelback. Maybe while new merabers are registering, we can have "Do you like Nickelback?" on there, and filter out all the people that say yes.

You are comparing Lady Gaga to Led Zeppelin?

The reason they won't be remerabered is because they are utter crap...you have to remeraber Led Zeppelin were not the media whores of the 70's just because they are remerabered. They are remerabered because people realize the quality in their music. Critics at the time bashed them at any turn. The Lady Gagas and Nickelbacks of the 70's were also around, but thankfully were forgotten. You are using the wrong standarRAB for comparison here.

Interesting thread but I have a feeling it's unpredictable...

I guess there are some small differences between Europe and United States.
For example TV on the Radio. I hope I am not blind but I don't know them and I don't have a feeling Europe is talking about them.

See you in 2035  :D

the albums 2011? bummer I was hoping for it later this year.

I'm gonna keep optimistic, I mean, we haven't heard anything from it yet. Maybe they release an amazing single or something that blows all our minRAB? I dunno.
