Current Bands we will be talking about in 25yrs

I actually agree with lucifer_sam here, Janszoon, and you know me to prefer RHCP BSSM and earlier. But their popularity peaked a couple years ago with 'Dani California' and 'Snow'. If you ask anyone from my generation about the Chili Peppers, you are much more likely to hear about songs from their last three albums than their first three, possibly even more famous than their biggest hit, 'Under the Bridge'. The proof is in the pudding:

Other than 'Higher Ground', after quickly glancing over that list I don't see another 80s Chili Peppers song until 'Knock Me Down' at #83. The majority seems to be from the last ten years...

I think SoaD are all done frankly. The spilt that Serj is currently taking, and the perceived domination of the writing by Darian? (whoever the guitarist is) really brought them down the "pain, brain, insane" path that is generally the aching deathrattle of a banRAB last hurrah.

The jury is out on the Strokes, for me anyhow. I like what they do, but what they do is starting to come off like a one-trick pony. Thats fine, but its like Ac/Dc where they have a couple songs people really like and then its just filler for the live show.

Your other three suggestions; Black Keys, White Stripes, and QotSA are likely contenders for endurance. I think most will be recalled by the dedicated few as i don't see any becoming the next U2.

I never thought I would find myself defending Lady GaGa...but I find her and someone like Ciara to be on different levels. Lady GaGa is huge because she got herself there...she made a few good connections, but mostly got by on her songwriting and intense personality. Ciara was manufactured.

This feels ****in weird...

The actual genre. There are actually a nuraber of styles that throw in the religious side of things....though I don't really like any of it "Christian rock" itself annoys me the most.

The following musicians are not representative of my opinion, just banRAB I think will be remerabered in the next 25 years

Muse.
Regina Spektor.
Queens of the Stone Age
Paramore (i bloody hope not)
Sigur Ros (getting popular, even my Lady Gaga-listening frienRAB are getting into them, i think they're becoming the 'it' band now.)

Here's a list of albums that came out between January & March 25 years ago

I'd say probably about 60% of those banRAB are still talked about.

Ah right, I'd rather them be successful, as long as they don't change from what they believe in. I.E Kings Of Leon.

They are already producing radio friendly music, they can't really 'sell out.' sure they're underground atm, but if they got recognition fair play to them.

But of course, I always like it when a band I've liked for a while or before many of my friend's have heard of them stays small, but if they become the next big thing, then fair play to them.

Like you said though, don't think it'd go that far. Couple of good albums, can't see them being nuraber 1 in the charts, respectable top 20s for them.

FML then. I'm already at the point of death whenever that awful "Fireflies" song come on...

Lady Gaga, I hope so though. I quite like her, and I was taken to one of her concerts and really enjoyed it. Shes a great performer.

Arctic Monkeys hopefully, they're always good.

i ****ing hope not. i'm already sick of hearing about it. yes, we know they suck. no ones saying otherwise. shut up already.

Yeah I don't get it either. Nothing original about her. So her performances are lively, big deal. It's the music that counts. But I guess her audience really don't care about the music too much but care about the whole package instead.
When compared to Madonna as many people seem to do she really has a long way to go. My guess is she either WILL be more original in the future and she's gonna last or we'll never hear from her in another 5 years.
