My family comes from the Dom. Rep., but I was born in New York. Some relatives have discussed that our ancestors were Spanish going back 4 or 5 generations (starting with my great great or great great great grandparents). My question is: Even though my family and I are Dominican, can we claim Spanish ancestry, as well as consider ourselves part of the culture and people?
