Cultured masquerade mask?

For my art culminating, i have to create a masquerade mask. I have it already made, but now all i need to think of is a theme. What kind of theme should i paint onto it? any cultural ideas and suggestions? thanks! xo
 
you could do like the middle east with purple and red silks ..

australia with orange and yellow tones to symbolise heat lol

animal print ?
