Cultured Dairy Products?

Please explain to me what cultured dairy products are. I have been trying to research it but I can't get a simple answer or explanation. I understand bacteria ( I think the good kind) are involved durring the fermentation process or something but I have no Idea about fermentation or anything so please It would be a great help.

they are dairy products with good bacteria like kefir or yogurt.
