Dirtybird I wholeheartedly agree. I would add some input, but I fear that If I do that I will most likely get banned for racism while not even trying. Plus, there are just as many white/hispanic ignorant fucks as there are "gangsta" blacks. Every ethnicity is being made look like a fuckbag because of this.
One thing that does get on my nerves, are the fucks that SHOOT EACH OTHER because they "wuz on muh turf". What the fuck? You are shooting YOUR OWN KIND over GOVERNMENT PROPERTY. You dont own "turf", the government does. Its the same fucks that turn around and say "fuck da govarnmint".

I personally, as a white man, find 'redneck' culture to be somewhat offensive. Not people who live in the country, but embracing backwards mindsets. A black guy and I used to have this joke:
When we saw one of our own race doing something stupid, we'd say:
"On behalf of all white/black people I must apologize. We are a proud and noble race of many innovations. Please forgive the ignorance of some of my kin, he has strayed far from the mighty white/black tribe."

I agree, although that may be because I get to witness it at almost every corner of my town. It's like running into a wall, then getting mad at it and trying to shoot it for hitting you. Fucking rednecks.
We have a little group of "gangstas" here called the K-town playas. Their like baby gangstas compared to San Antonio. ("Ima shoot you bitch, waaah"). I just pity the poor little boys and girls that read so much into that supposed culture because they really don't know how stupid they look.

Culture, by definition, is a set of behavioral norms determined by a group of people.

I cited multiple dictionary definitions. There is some merit to that point of view, mainly being that the English language is dynamic and varies with the times. But I dont think your definition, the unfortunate current prevailing definition, is the original meaning of the word. But it doesnt matter it's been used to justify all manner of debauchery as a lifestyle, and the other meanings have probably been permanently lost. Cultured as in refined, civilized, educated, and informed will shortly become a fairly archaic usage.

I used the sociology/psychology definition of the word, and since we are on a sociology topic it is much more fitting that the standard general dictionary. Pick up any sociology or psychology scholarly journal or book and that is the standard scientific definition, not the common language online dictionary definition.

Some would seem to support your POV, I wouldn't say I'm wrong though. I'd call it a difference of opinion. I think there's a good argument to be made for willful ignorance and lack of culture(def #3, 4, and 5) being an absence of culture. There's obviously a slight contradiction in some circumstances between 1 and 2, and 3-5. You can ignore this if you like, the dictionary agrees with you.
But that was never the question. I never said the dictionary never definied it as such. I said that the modern use of the world "culture" as in definition 1 and 2 above is contradictory in circumstances where the other definitions of the same word are obviously not met. You can choose to ignore it if you want, it doesn't really matter. The modern definition of culture has been hijacked and is used for reasons of political correctness and convenience in many cases. And this isnt an attack on ghetto culture in particular, this could just as easily apply to, say, ignorant, backward, redneck hicks. It doesnt really matter. NASCAR, wife-beating, excessive drug/alcohol abuse, and illegitimate children are not the trademarks of a cultured person.
It's not about the definitions of a word. It's about people who are willingly ignorant and proud of it. I dont think this should be socially rewarded the way it is.
