Culture in the movie pans labyrinth!!!! HELP PLEASE!!?

Im writing a review on pans labyrinth and I have to talk about the spanish culture in it and i dont know what to put....please help!!!
 
You did see the movie, correct?
Talk about the life after the Spanish Civil War.
 
I've been to spain myself, and looking back on that movie, I don't see anything that involved Spanish culture. It was intended for an international release, so the director, who is actually mexican, not spanish, probably tried to avoid putting in pieces of the local culture so the rest of the world would relate better.
