me and this black guy? Okay, I went in to JC Penny's for a job interview after I had previously put in a job application two weeks prior to the job interview.
So this guy (who is black) sits down with me in his office and begins to interview me asking me all kinds of perfectly normal and common questions that any potential employer would ask an interviewee.
During the interview, he mentions to me (and he did this more than once) that "WE TRY TO BE OPEN MINDED ABOUT THINGS."
When he said this to me, I had the distinct impression that he was trying to tell me that HE as a BLACK AFRICAN AMERICAN person, wants ME to be open minded towards him and be accepting of him. Well, that was my impression.
I want to make it clear to everyone reading this, that I WAS being very POLITE to him during the interview, and he of course was being very polite to me. After the interview, he mentioned that there would be a second interview before he decides to hire me, so we both shaked hands and then I left and went home.
As I drove home I was thinking about what he kept quirking to me about being open minded, and said to myself, BLOW ME ON A CROSS, I JUST KNOW THIS GUY ISN'T GOING TO CALL ME IN FOR THAT SECOND INTERVIEW.
Sure enough, he didn't call me back in for that so called second interview, and I never got the job. I was dressed appropriately, was polite, paid attention to everything he said and he never put me up for consideration.
One more thing to mention, he had some white females working in there, so I presume that this means he's not too prejudiced towards Caucazoids like myself right????
Coleslaw: I was well groomed, well dressed and certainly well qualified for the job. If he really meant something different about being "open minded," then why didn't he be more specific I wonder. And why would he just have to give me a second interview? I think this business with the "second interview," was just a curve ball he was throwing at me.
