Cult Movies

That sounds like it could either be very very good, or very very bad. But interesting either way .

I liked The Crow too. But my top two favourite cult movies would have to be Donnie Darko and Cry-Baby.

ITA. I think the popularity is a secondary factor to the audience reaction. I look at Star Wars and would regard it a 'cult' film because of the obsessive fans, yet I understand why some people would think otherwise because of it's popularity. Perhaps it's the underground following that makes a film a 'cult' regardless of whether it also has mainstream popularity?

Tis' an interesting topic...;)

LOTR fans might be considered a cult. KIDDING!

My favorite cult film is Heathers.

I like Donnie Darko... I haven't seen it in a couple of years, though... :(

And would Amelie be considered cult? It's one of my all-time favourites! :)

I'm not sure if it's considered a 'cult' film, but I would say Moulin Rouge. I love singing along to it, and the movie is so pretty.
Across the Universe is quickly becoming one of my fav cult films. I keep listening to that soundtrack and some elements reminded me of Moulin Rouge - like the opening scene.
I would also add Brick and Trainspotting to the list.

I love all bruce willis films, probably because my mom LOVES bruce and she buys like all his movies, so we have a huge collection of bruce Willis films, but we dont own Die Hard 3 and i think thats the only one i know of.

Lost boys was a good movie didnt like it too much probably because i wasnt paying much attention.
I wouldnt call Lord of the rings a cult it was too succesfull

yeah, the host wore a black hooded cape & ghoul makeup & tried on an english accent. he'd open the show by saying "good eeeeevening!" what a riot! years later, not many years ago in fact, i found the movie with the giant leeches in a bin for five dollars, but i didn't get it! i'm kckin myself now, i should have bought it so when my sis comes out to visit we can watch part of it and be grossed out.

lots of eeeeewwwwwwwwws when we watch that one.

I think one of my favorite cult movies is the 5th Element. I love that movie so much! Bruce Willis is hot!

I wouldn't consider many of the movies listed in this thread as "cult" films. Donnie Darko? I don't know a single person who has not seen that movie. Half like it, the other half (including myself) thought nothing of it after seeing it.

Rules of Attraction and American Psycho, i would agree on. Especially, American Psycho. That movie was a freakshow and I still know alot of people who haven't seen it and those that i've gotten to watch it, enjoyed it.

My Brief List:
Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai. Solid movie, not a ton of rotation, but those that have seen it have loved it.

Strangeland - Wanna meet someone you met online? Heh, think again. This movie has freaked out some of my friends.

Unleashed - Once again, not a ton of my people have seen it, but the handful that have put it in their top 3 Jet Li movies ever.

Wow, this has developed into a wonderful topic!

Some of the movies mentioned here are popular cult movies which I also love. There are lesser known cult movies which I haven't seen.

One of my favorites has always been The Lost Boys. Oh and one I forgot to mention in my first post was Go, it's a wonderful film, daughter of pulp fiction. It's one of the best teenage/young adult comdies, American Pie has nothing on Go.

there used to be a show on the weekend from chicago i think, the host was sammy terry, and he showed bad horror movies. i loved that, never missed it. a few of my favorites were black sunday, and a spanish one where the 'creature' grew a proboscus when it drank blood.

ugh, and the one with the huge leeches. my sister and i cringed through that more times than i can count,.

Blood For Dracula is my favourite cult film. It´s got everything a "cult" movie should have: bad acting, gore, unintentional comedy, nudity plus a brilliant Udo Kier as Dracula. In this movie Dracula can only drink the blood of virgins (if he drinks the blood of non-virgins he starts puking blood like crazy). When there´s no virgins left in Transylvania Dracula moves to the Italian countryside because he´s heard people there are very religious. Of course he manages to find a mansion where all the daughters are complete sluts so there´s a lot of bloodpuking going on. Best line in the movie: "The blood of these whores is killing me!":lmao:. They don´t make movies like this any more.
