I have a followup question, I had a CT scan and Disogram last week, there seem to be some admin issues as I await the results.

Are all highlighted images problems that may cause pain? or just images.

The level of pain you experience during a discogram is the diagnostic feature of it. Levels that look good on the ct scan can be causing the pain rather than a bad looking level that really isn't causing any discomfort at all. The discogram allows the surgeon to make sure that he is identifying the source of pain accurately.

Thank you first off, I am researching my case for understanding not self diagnosis for i am clueless.
According to pictures from my disco gram and CT scan, one of my disc seems to have exploded with 8-10 different particles afloat in a area, there also pain in those areas. The CT scan I cant read appears to complicated without training. I would like to know if this exploded disc and the Annular tear are related.

Thank you so very much.

Im no expert but did have a discogram which was positive at l5-s1.. I seen the fluroscopic images after it was done.. The 2 control disc nucleus looked similar to a cotton ball and was intact. The painful disc looked ragged and went horizontally and outside the posteror of the annulus and irritating the nerves.. The disc pain was from the IDD and the sciatica was chemically radicular pain from the leaking annulus.. My neurosurgeon as well as the pain doc who did my discogram said that u can still have discogenic pain even without a annular tear outside the outter 1/3 where most of the nerves are located.. I didnt ask anymore questions but take their word b/c a tear can heal but with IDD it is likely to get worse and need adressed sooner or later.. I am havinf a TLIF this month to fix my disc pain and the chemical radicular pain.. Hope I made sense and all goes well!!!
