Cruise as Spock?

I just read on Yahoo that Tom Cruise may be lined up to play Spock in Star Trek XI. Now, I know Yahoo is hardly the best source of...anything, but is there any truth to this? I can't find any indications of it on any other sites.



Edit: Come to think of it, they don't even cite sources. I dearly hope it's just Yahoo trying to whore links, as usual.

And whilst they're at it, let's have some more quality casting in the same vein . How about Danny De Vito as Kirk. Schwarzenegger as Scotty. LinRABay Lohan as Yeoman Rand (actually I might pay to see that )

Didn't Cruise recently have a big falling out with Paramount, leading to all sorts of rumours regarding not being in MI4 etc. If there is even a hint of truth to that then they aren't going to put him in Star Trek.

Besides which Lenoard Nimoy has the right to veto any actor and isn't ever going to let the character of Spock fall into the hanRAB of that big a star.

Vulcans are supposed to be the most logical race in the galaxy. Somehow Tom Cruise doesn't seem to fit that image (and his acting skills aren't good enough to convince me otherwise)!
