Crowning Moments of Awesome (in animation)

Whats a conrod?

Borrowed from Tv Tropes:

"The moment when a fictional character does something for which they will be remembered forever, winning for them the eternal loyalty of fans. "

What are some of your favorite CMOA's in animation? I'd have to say mine are:

* Maleficents transformation in the end of Sleeping Beauty. Phillip takes it in stride. I would have ran.

* Roger's reidiculously drawn out prank in American Dad, where he convinces Steve he was adopted. Especially when you consider his motivation.

* Another one for Roger; murdering his alter-ego. "You're a good egg... and that cramps my style"

* Everything Pierrot Le Fou does, ever. Well, you know, except for crying.

* Poor Unfortuanate Souls. For Ursula, obviously.

Wow! What a great idea for a thread! Man, I haven't even had time to think about it, but I gotta throw these three out first:

Elastigirl takes the wheel of a borrowed jet and delivers what has got to be the most insanely kickass action sequence in The Incredibles. Between the hyper-accurate pilot jargon she's spouting into her radio, her tough-as-nails demand that Violet ignore all she's ever been told throughout her life to "Put a force field around us NOW!", and some of the highest stakes I've EVER seen being played for in an animated children's movie (seriously - missiles aimed at innocent kids? Yikes!), this dramatic nailbiter of a scene cements Helen Parr as 100% Grade 'A' Badass and made her my favorite character in the movie.

And I gotta give it up for Spike Spiegel in Cowboy Bebop's "Ballad of Fallen Angels" when he stares down the barrel of his past and takes the long walk to a lonely church on the outskirts of town for a showdown with his arch-nemesis, Vicious, in what ends up being one of the most cinematic moments in the entire run of the series.

"When angels are cast out of heaven, they become devils." This singular moment sold me on Bebop, and I never looked back. Not once.

Gaston is just about the biggest jerkass in Disney history, but when he leads an angry, ignorant, fearful mob of angry, ignorant, fearful townspeople in a raid on the castle in Beauty and the Beast, there's a small part of me that has to admire his conviction. That song is spectacular and he just owns it completely. From the moment he swipes the mirror from Belle up until he takes a header to his oh-so-deserved ruin on the jagged rocks below, Gaston accepts the torch from The Little Mermaid's Ursula in continuing the proud tradition of Disney villainy.

1.The enterity of Ron Stoppable when he is a villain. Sheer epicness!

2.The climax of Meet the Robinsons.

3.The Heffalumps and Woozles dream sequence.

4. The enterity of Doga from Pucca.

5. Beast Boy vs. Slade

6. Ghost Freak's (first) death (from Ben 10).

7. Goku becomes a SSJ for the first time

A gold example from G.I. Joe: The Movie:

When Pythona infiltrates the Terror Drome and single-handedly tears her way through an electrified fence, a steel wall, enough Cobra soldiers to occupy Luxembourg, and all of the automated defenses that seal off Serpentor's throne room ALL BY HERSELF! That scene immediately set the tone for how dangerous the bad guys in the film were going to be.

And from Justice League: Unlimited:

I've never been a huge fan of the Flash, but he has no greater moment in Unlimited than in the episode "Divided We Fall" when he goes one-on-one against the Brainiac/Luthor hybrid and literally dismantles him one atom at a time until there's nothing left. That scene made me a believer.

Batman's always been King Badass without a doubt, but when he successfully evaded Darkseid's Omega Beam in the episode "Destroyer", making him the only character to EVER pull that off, my jaw dropped.

I completely forgot about Slade. That scene in "The End" where he fights the skeleton-thingy, ending in him blowing it up- that was pretty cool. It also gave him a great line - Skeleton: "You Can't fight the power of pure evil!" Slade: "I'm not such a nice guy myself" "boom".

Basil in the Great Mouse Detective gets a good one when he breaks out of Ratigans multi-layered trap. To quote TVTropes directly: "All the awesomeness of Sherlock Holmes and Batman, rolled into one!".

ExoSquad: the last words of the mutineer Captain Marcus--"Tell him Mathiew Marcus knew how to die!" At the very least, I will remember him forever.

Oliver and Company: Why Should I Worry. That sequence was just too cool.

Ultimate Avengers: Captain America tried to punch out the Hulk. He didn't, but he looked awesome trying. I don't think you can beat that interpreation of the character.

The first one that comes to mind for me is the "Time Keeps On Slippin'" episode of "Futurama". Fry spends the entire third act trying to figure out what it was he did that made Leela fall in love with him during one of the time skips. Neither of them have any memory of what happened, leading Leela to believe that Fry tricked her into loving him somehow. Then just as they're about to implode the Tempus Nebula, reversing the effects of the chronotons, Fry finally realizes what he did - he used the ship's gravity pump to move the stars around to spell out "I LOVE YOU LEELA". And before he can show it to Leela, the nebula implodes, leaving him to just stare broken-heartedly out the window at the newly formed black hole.

It was at this point that I realized "Futurama" was the awesomest thing FOX had ever broadcast. (Though admittedly, it's more awesome if you ignore the fact that the very next episode centered on Fry making out with a robot replica of Lucy Liu.)

What happened?

Um, also -

Buzz Lightyear - "This Isn't Flying! It's falling, with style!"

Eve (Black Cat) - She turns into a mermaid. Then, while her opponent is trying to figure that out, she beats the crap out of him with her tail. Actually, that whole fight was pretty awesome...

Jessica Rabbit - Ummm, yeah.

Several scenes in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" are very majestic and deserve crowning moments.

I am sure there are also several "Family Guy" skits that deserve crowning moments, as well.

Several scenes in "the Pagemaster" deserve a mention.

The battle between Jafar and Mickey Mouse in "Mickey's House of Villains." There are plenty Disney movies, as well, which deserve crowning moments, such as "Pinocchio", "Dumbo", "Bambi", "Lady and the Tramp", "Fantasia", etc.

Wow, there are so many that I can think of, but none that I can recall from the top of my head. I will think of more later and will post them.

There are also the midnight carnival and ending scenes in "the Last Unicorn", there might be a few more from this film that I am forgetting to mention. There are also scenes in "Snoopy Comes Home" and the intro to "Garfield and Friends" (please do not ask me why about the latter, I just think there is something nominating about the show). There is also the first "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" (the original series) episode, as well as episodes of the "Super Mario Bros. Super Show" and "the Legend of Zelda." There is also the intro to "the Real Ghost Busters." There are also scenes in "Tiny Toon Adventures: How I Spent My Vacation." There are so many to names, but no more that I can recall right now.

When Snoopy visits Lila.

When Snoopy and Woodstock have a musical duet.

When Snoopy first receives Lila's letter.

The goodbye party for Snoopy.

When Charlie Brown and the gang reminisce about their times with Snoopy.

There are many memorable moments in this film, it is really hard to say which scenes in particular deserve to be mentioned, but I think the best moments are the ones I listed. There are more good ones, too, though.
