well first of all does any1 know why crosscountry is labed xc? secondly i run crosscountry i run varisty but if you ask me crosscountry is the hardest sport ever. the only sport that comes close to me is Ufc and wrestling and rugbe. what do you guys think?
also this sports is so hard and we get no respect or publicity from the public or other sports they just think its just running but its way more than that you need stamina, having a pace, finding a pace, you have to know what your doing at meets not to start off too fast or too slow. not getting caught in a pack, how to climb hills, how to run in soft sand, concrete, and hard dirt, also how to speed up your pace and not kill yourself. so many things that you have to do and have knowledge about

Welll, first of all XC means cross country because X (a cross, like 2 crossed sticks, X, yeah?) and the C stands for country. So together they make X(cross)C(country)

I agree that XC is a very hard sport, if you do it you im sure you know the feeling when you are sprinting side by side with someone towards the finish line, every muscle in you body is screaming, you are dizzy and not sure if you can make it, and have practically no energy left once you do. (only enough energy to walk over to the corner and throw up cause you were running so hard :P).

Phyisically, I would say that XC is one of the hardest sports out there. But I would actually somthing else for the hardest sport. It dosen't require the strength or pain in XC, but it requires hours upon hours of practice.

Flatland BMX. Basically just really technical BMX riding, which requires moving your bike into impossible positions and blancing at weird angels. The only reason I say that this is the hardest is because give anyone a pair of shoes and they can run. Maybe not well, not fast, not far, but it is possible. Flatland takes weeks, often even a month practicing 2 hours a day before you can do a single trick. Here's a little video of a person flatlanding: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A2LTVhqHAdo

I would also say boxing is very difficult, endurance, speed, strength, guts... And a big sweaty giant trying to punch your daylights out!

Cross country at a highly competitive level is very hard, and definatly ranks among these too.

That's what I think, it would be interesting to hear what others think too?

PS: I totally agree with you about the lack of appreciation. Very few people who have never ran to their very limit, on the verge of passing out can actually say that this is an easy sport. The ones that have ran XC but still say it's easy have never pushed themselves hard enough.

xc is the hardest! i agree! people undertake the sport as the freaks who love to run, but i love my team and we have so much fun. its soo hard to keep your body in shape everyday constantly training, you have to be sooo dedicated and along with it eaat healthy to keep runnning. i hate the people that join just to stay in shape, i love running and i joined xc because of it, if you dont like it, then too bad.
