I agree with the starter of the thread that 'something about mary' was total rubbish. Funniest film of the decade my arse, I laughed 0 times during that film, and I am the kind of guy that likes to laugh. There was nothing in the film that wasn't predictable, all the 'gags' can be seen from a mile off.
I think the two LOTR films that are out, are not bad jobs at all, I was thoroughly entertained by both, and I did not think I would be. If the book is as good as you say it is, I must give it a read
AI is not as bad as people say, IMO, it is just a nice futuristic style story, with different ideas, the film makes you think about moral values and all that shit, so I guess if thats not your idea of good cinema then it would be a bit crap.
I also enjoyed trainspotting, thought it was a great film, quick paced, and well directed. Will once again have to read the book to see if it comes up to scratch.
