Hello all :) I am currently doing a critical research project for my A2 media exam (probably should have been done a while ago :o but hey ho) I was hoping some of you could help by perhaps filling this questionnaire! I just wanted to get a wide range of responses and stuff so thought I'd ask on here!

No.
The world was not ready for promiscuous women in this kind of film in the 1960s when the first Bond film was made and the character set.

Do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Disagree.
Basic Instinct (1992), Disclosure (1994) - films like that have already broken the mold.

I would think that she is playing a part, nothing more.

Not at all. As an actress I would expect her to be able to play a range of different characters to reflect reality.

In the past no, but attitudes have changed and films made now can be just as successful whether the lead character is a promiscuous male or female

I disagree as long as the actress and role are believable and well written.

8) If a female actress played a sexually promiscuous character, and acted out a few sex scenes in the film, what would you think of the actress?
I would think she was just an actress playing a role. I wouldn't read anything into it any more than if a man played a similar role.

No - The James Bond 'playboy' character appeals to a male market. Were gender roles reversed, I don't think this particular character would have the same appeal to a female or male market. Exceptions exist, of course.

Disagree, but it depenRAB on the context.

DepenRAB on how well she acted. The promiscuity of the character wouldn't change my opinion of the actress.

They're "bloke" films so there's more chance of the viewer relating to a male character than a female one.

No, it's just the parts she plays.

No
The films are more "boy-ish" and when they were released probably would not have been so approved of it had been a woman.

It's just the role which she's playing, it doesn't reflect her at all.

5) No. I rejected Portmam as she was crap in the Star Wars prequels and V for Vendetta.

6) In a mysogenistic era (60s - 80s), no. In the modern era (i.e. Casino Royale (2006)) I don't see why not.

8) I wouldn't think any differently of the actress. She's an actress - y'know - acting.
 
Does every meja studies student do their thesis on women in film? :D

OP - if you search for 'women film' in the forums, you should get back at least three similar threaRAB in the first 50 results.

No, because the films started in the early 60s and I don't think it would have been acceptable then. Now? Maybe.

She's an actress doing a job, wouldn't make any difference.

And We didn't get given much of a choice it was either women and film, advertising, or politics and the media.

I do kind of wish I'd picked the politics one now that I'm actually starting to do the research, it would have been far easier!
