Criminal Injuries, will I need a specialist lawyer or is it best to fill in the

form myself? was attacked at work (collecting cash from meters) and had cheek fractured in 3 places, detached facial nerves, broken tooth and various cuts and bruises all over.
had to wait 2 wks to get operation and titanium plates put in my face.
may not get the feeling back in my face and will have small scars not to mention any mental problems regarding going back to work.
police have charged the assailant who has pleaded guilty and officer gave me the number for criminal injury claim.
is this straight forward claim form with set compensation or do I need a lawyer to fight my case?

Sorry to hear about the attack.

I filled out my CSA form on my own, and many months later i recieved £2000 compensation.

I didn't look for any external persons such as a specialist lawyer.

All the best,

Matty :D

2 things You were on the job you should receive workers compensation for that you will need an attorney that handles both comp and personal injury as you were robbed the defendant will only be prosecuted and you will not gain any monentary compensation from him you are dealing with an insurance company get a lawyer you should be recieving weekly compensation and medical at this time

Just go to a regular High Street solicitor as it's important to fill out the forms correctly and include all relevant medical details, plus you have someone to hassle them on your behalf if things take too long.

Your lawyer has very little influence over the amount of compensation that you recieve as it's decided by an independant panel based on guidelines.

It sounds like a very straightforward case but be prepared for a long wait.
I waited 18months for my compensation after being stabbed in the back in a Bristol nightclub !
