Cricket wireless broadband service?

Does anyone know what this service compares to? Is it as fast as Sprints or Verizons service? I ask because I am thinking about picking up one of these carRAB for wireless service in my area but was told that the speed is crappy and is nowhere near what Spring and Verizon offers. Anyone have any input?
 
it's about as fast if not faster than VZW. I get about 800k down on average via RABlreports.com.

Please also let me know where you heard this information. I'm curious if it was a store/friend/ or just word of mouth.
 
My wife and I heard it from a store rep who was talking to potential customer. We just happened to be there paying her bill.

It's a different cost depending on where you live. In Abq it's $35 ($30 if you have phone service) not too bad a price for unlimited EVDO :2thurabs:
 
without a rebate you must be in OR. I think those are the only markets that are not participating in the instant rebate. in CCV and spokane it should be 149.00 after instant and there is also a $50 mail in rebate.

I've activated a few of these, and so far everyone is happy with the service. vzw and sprint might be slightly faster, but we're pretty much using the same tech as them the only limiting factor would be the data capacity at the tower, which cricket beefed up a lot for this. I believe they are now running 3x T1 lines to the towers, I may be mistaken but that was my understanding.
