I have a verizon treo 700p that I took into a wireless repair store to have it converted to cricket. After they set the phone up for cricket, they advised that it will only work for calls and text. I cannot send picture messages or get on the internet, and i also bought a cable and it will not allow me to do a hotsync. I have another treo 700p that i am using on verizon service and i have no problem hotsyncing this phone. If anyone can help me with this issue PLEASE let me know!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unlocked PalmOS Treos can be configured with cricket's mobile web without the need for a data cable.

You have to do 2 things:
1. Create a dial-up network connection on the phone to dial #777

2. Configure the browser software (Blazer) to use cricket's proxy server

Step 2 is easy, and consists of setting the proxy address and port. It should be set to:

Proxy address: wap.mycricket.com
proixt port: 8080

If there is not a seperate textbox for port, you can enter them together, like this:

wap.mycricket.com:8080

Step 1 consists of a few mini steps.

a) Unlock the existing network settings, so that you can add a new one. I don't know if this neeRAB to be done since it's a verizon phone, and I do not have one in front of me, but I'd go ahead and do it anyway. You have to hit the menu button, which pops up the menu bar at the top. Goto Options I think, then select Log (or Network Log). This will open a screen with a text log, but you can also type commanRAB into this window. If you tap into the blank area below the text, you'll see a blinking cursor. Typing ? and pressing the return key will give you a list of commanRAB. We're only interested in one command, which you should now type:

pdpset 1

Your phone should now ask you for your 6-digit security code, which should be 000000. Once you do this, it'll unlock your network settings and you can create a new dial-up connection. I usually delete the existing Verizon connections too.

b) To create a new connection for cricket, press the menu button, which pops up the menu bar at the top. In the left-most menu, select "New".
c) Name your connection, type typing into the box labeled Service:. Name it whatever you'd like, I recommend naming it "cricket".
d)

Select "High Speed Wireless" for the type of modem/connection.

User name: [email protected] (substitute your 10-digit phone#)
Password: cricket (must be lowercase)

e) Click the Details button. Remove the checkbox from "Mobile IP", so it is unchecked. Cricket does not yet use Mobile IP. Click OK.

f) Click Connect. If it connects, the Connect button will change to read "Disconnect". If this happens, you'll notice your tower icon will change to have two arrows above it, indicating data-transfer activity, and congratulations, your Treo is now logged onto Cricket's mobile web.

All that's left to do is fire up the browser and see if it works. If you can't connect, it could be a bunch of things, but first, make sure that you have mobile web as an active feature on your cricket account.

If you can connect, but can't visit any sites, check to make sure you correctly entered cricket's proxy info into the browser settings, as specified at the beginning of this post. If you still can't connect, or visit any sites, post here and I'll try and help ya out.
Be sure to be specific as to where you are having problems, and make sure you know if you're actually connected, by looking for the Connect button to change to Disconnect.

You won't always have to manually connect by clicking the Connect button under network prefs, but it's best to do it this way if you're having problems.
If everything is ok, you can just go right to your browser, and it'll automatically connect for you when you start browsing the web.

I don't have a Treo in front of me, so please let me know if any of this doesn't make sense, or if I've mislabeled something, and I'll go in and edit my post.

I have the Treo 700WX and the windows version has some diffrent settings. I have been through this programming several times and am unable to get my WAP and MMS configured correctly. Can someone please help me?

:buddies: Thanks for the response!
It really helped!!!!
Also, the Cricket account has picture messaging
but this does not work on the phone. Why is that?
Because the phone was Verizon before?

you will have to find mms settings within the phone's system and ghange them...maybe in a file that you can copy to your pc via bitpim and then alter w/hex editor...i am not sure but i will be flashing my alltel treo650 to cricket soon as i get futuredial cable #19(this weekend) and then i'll find and post a fix right here by end next week...that is if the treo has an mms client on the phone...i've heard that mms cannot be done on treo...this is the case with many sprint phones that use power vision b/c sprint uses an online mms service where your phone senRAB and receives mms from the web...still, with those phones you can sometimes firm flash and have mms working...

From Palm site:

"Alltel, Bell Mobility, Telus Mobilty or EarthLink Treo 650: There is no MMS application (picture & video messaging) on this version. Instead, instruct others to send multimedia attachments to your email address and use VersaMail to receive the messages."

"Verizon Wireless Treo 650: Messaging on this unit is divided into two applications: SMS (text messaging) and MMS (picture & video messaging)."

i found the MMS Settings on a Treo 600. Problem is that when i try to overwrite the file with a new one that has the right settings it gives me a error saying the file is locked

I have a treo 700w I can send MMS messages fine, I can receive them fine, I just cant see the content of the incoming message.

did my cableless flash tonight but had to program my treo 650 manually...working the wap now...i have the alltel flashed to cricket and there is an mms client on this phone...someone said they found the settings for mms but can't overwrite due to lock...pm me b/c i have a way to edit any file on the treo...learned it in the NO-cable flash process...i would like to know the mms specific file without having to look...i will then write the how to...

ok- i was so wrong...my alltel treo 650 has no mms client...wish it did, but the versamail should make up for it...wish i coulda found an mms fix but i guess it woulda been here already if it existed...

i'm still a big ol' noob

i cannot get google maps or the gmail standalone to work on my treo 650...google maps connects to cricket network and then when loading it gives error that the program requires a data connection...same with gmail app...it seems that i cnnot use any non-oem apps reqiring data connection...even my versamail is not connecting...was working ok on alltel v1.04 after flash, then i updated to v1.05 and no versamail  ...help? :help:

Does anyone know the settings fo the treo 700 so I can get pictures and send them. also if you have the settings to use the Email (versamail) please post it for me I would be greatful. I have looked all over this forum and I cannot find it
