Cricket to MetroPCS?

Hi,
There is a guy on eBay saying he can flash a CRICKET KYOCERA SLIDER KX5 REMIX for MetroPCS, would this be possible and or work on the MetroPCS spectrum? It seems that many people have used him and he has turned Sprint, Verizon, Alltel, and MetroPCS phones to Cricket, but he says he can convert them to Metro as well. I was wondering if anyone has dealt with " cricket-flash" before? I just want a cheap MP3 cellphone and I think the Slider would work perfectly for that. Is there anyway I can change the PRL by myself?

Yes, you can change the PRL by yourself with a data cable and PST software. There are a few discussions here detailing step by step how to do that. Just so you know, phones that are not CricKet branded have not had much luck using picture messaging or wap. Everything else works fine as long as the phone supports it. Good luck.

The only way I can see them getting it to work w/ MetroPCS (if MetroPCS does not accept foreign ESN's as stated) is to change the ESN of a phone to a MetroPCS one. If that's the case then they are doing some very illegal work there.. But I could be wrong.

Yea, I had started a thread about this in the MetroPCS forum about a week or so back and I was told that Metro wouldnt even accept blacklisted phones. That if Metro hadnt sold the phone then they wouldnt activate it so I dont know how that would even work. My suggestion to you crmtp is to go post on the Metro forum and see what they tell you.

this is not a suitable course of action as it is illegal to clone the esn of a phone.

if you want metro to accept your non metro esn you should submit feedback to someone at metro about how good an idea this would be for them

the cable act requires the company to let you purchase a phone and hook it up as long as it is compatible with the network. this law is like 40 years old and was written for cable (tv) and the old copper phone system. this is a grey area with wireless basically because they can say if the phone was not sold by them it is not compatible (different firmware or whatever) but they are working on closing this loophole, which is the real reason verizon and sprint are already working towarRAB opening the network.

metro keeping their network closed is good thing, especially with new markets coming online where both cricket and metro exist, i.e. Las Vegas and Philly. Customers will easily be able to leave metro and come to cricket.
