Cricket to Launch Android Phone

Nice. I think these are going to sell better than the blackberry. I can't wait to hear some good rewiews from some hofo users!!

As there is no official update, this would rely on two things: Someone finding a way to root the phone and someone building a rom with a kernel that supports all of the hardware. I'm sure that none of these are accomplished yet as the phones were just released to the public :)

How does the OS feel, generally speaking? Any lag? You ever own any other Android phones to be able to compare?

Got to play with a couple evo 4g's and droid's and the zio is without a doubt slower to react to inputs but what can you expect when compared to those phones. i think our customers will be more than happy with it.

We just found out that there is a glitch in the system and that we can't do anything with the phone for at least a few hours. a typical cricket release.

2.1 should be coming. What do you mean as the icons being small because of the screen size? I thought the screen was great.

i'll see if i can post some pics. there is verified problem with the web function but at least there is a fix. good news is that the web is really fast. it seems as fast if not faster than my old iphone 3g on at&t.

inputs are slow compared to the new versions of android but overall i think it's going to be a great seller for us.

I will be doing a review but I won't be able to get mine until Thursday. I can also compare it against my brother's iPod touch to give some perspective.

still no pics but the keyboard is terrible in portrait mode. i'm considering buying a keyboard app but not sure if it will help. overall the screen seems like it needs calibration as the touch inputs are not precise at all. the keyboard has also stopped responding to inputs at one point and the phone needed to be restarted. lastly, it takes forever to switch from landscape to portrait. i'm not sure if this is with all androids but my iphone was much faster and smoother.

on a positive note, i do take back my comment about it being sluggish as i feel like it's actually pretty decent when not being compared to the premium phones.

It seems like this phone is selling like gangbusters. I hope it drums up enough interest for someone to try and root it although if it gets an official update to 2.1...id be cool with that.

Also, I wonder how many of the people who complain about this phone being on 1.6 ACTUALLY have android phones? I have a G1 and while I can run 1.6, 2.1 and 2.2...I always go back to 1.6 because of how well it runs. The thing is the performance is the only real difference besides a few cosmetic things. I think the only app that I noticed you can't get on 1.6 is the official twitter app.

There is NO multi-touch function thats why it "feels" poor in comparision to other Android devices. COME ONthis thing was touched by Keocera...do i need to say more. Has ANYONE every used a Keocera product that was Quality or a good phone??? if so please share you experiance for everyone here!
