Cricket to Launch Android Phone

So, who on here got the Zio? How do you like it? Do you think you could post a review, and maybe some pictures and a video sample taken with the phone so we can see the quality?

It's my understanding that it's Kyocera's actual development and manufacturing that is not good. It's also my understanding that Sanyo's development and manufacturing ARE good. At the very least, you can feel much better about this phone with Sanyo added onto the name as opposed to solely Kyocera, yeah?

I will be doing a review but I won't be able to get mine until Thursday. I can also compare it against my brother's iPod touch to give some perspective.

still no pics but the keyboard is terrible in portrait mode. i'm considering buying a keyboard app but not sure if it will help. overall the screen seems like it neeRAB calibration as the touch inputs are not precise at all. the keyboard has also stopped responding to inputs at one point and the phone needed to be restarted. lastly, it takes forever to switch from lanRABcape to portrait. i'm not sure if this is with all androiRAB but my iphone was much faster and smoother.

on a positive note, i do take back my comment about it being sluggish as i feel like it's actually pretty decent when not being compared to the premium phones.

The ZIO is light...wich normally means cheap. hard to say untill some of my cricket customes get a hold of it. I didn't play with the internet much...but definatly better than a Ejoke!!!

Ninja- No hard feelings buddy:cool: Ill post up here when I know for sure a release date...Ive been told three hanRABet are to be released in August:clapping:

Wirelessly posted (sam-r550 UP.Browser/6.2.3.8 (GUI) MMP/2.0)

Do you think it was a typo the first time or do you think so many ordered already that they need more time for the rest of them?

I consistently get 1.6-2.1 rabps with my Cricket BB card at home and .9 to 1.4kpbs in the city. Better performance than Verizon or Sprint have in my area for sure.

I know this is pulling up an old post. But I am glad I found it.
Really looking forward to this phone coming to Cricket. Sanyo made decent phones so I'm willing to give this one the benifit of the doubt.
And while a lot of people are slaming on it for not being top of the line. I understand cricket not thinking they can sell $500-$600 dollar phones to its customers.

After looking at specs. This phone looks to be about on par with the Droid and Hero that were released last year.(other than the 3.0 camera).
Sure not top of the line, but for the price and being an AWS phone. It can't be beat.

Now just need to wait until some of our cricket guys here can get there hanRAB on it for a good review.

So, I rounded up a G1 off of craigslist for $100. I was really hesitant to give up a hardware keyboard (I had a BB curve 8330). Like said before, this phone will be similarly spec'ed. It should not be too bad (the Zio has more ram than the G1) but I would venture to say there will be hardly any 3rd party efforts and therefor no 2.1 and i'm not sure i'd be willing to pay $300+tax. The G1/myTouch3G border on being laggy, I couldn't imagine this phone being much better than those.

Well, having a Kyocera phone is erabarrassing, so the Sanyo name on the label would help, yes. :p

I really hope this is a solid phone. I can't wait to hear the reviews.

It looks like there is a problem with the touchscreen still. What are the chances Kyocera will update it and fix it?

Also, I've read that it's getting an update to Android 2.2. I don't have a link for that information though.

Well, it's been a while and I don't think any of us has seen an exact price (other than MSRP). Does anyone have any additional information regarding the price of the Kyocera Zio, and how much it will be after any rebates?

It seems like it's been a while without any updates. It's on Cricket's website, but they haven't really updated it since they put it up there.

I agree that a $60 plan is too high. Cricket's two biggest competitors in the prepaid wireless segment (Boost and Metro PCS) offer an unlimited everything smart phone plan for $50. Neither of those competitors offers 3G, though and I think this is how Cricket will attempt to justify the price difference, instead of making the smart business decision and offering a better experience for the same price.
