Cricket to Launch Android Phone

Yeah, I think we're all really hoping it's less than $299. Really, Kyocera said, unsubsidized, the phone should cost between $169 and $216. I think this would be a perfect phone for $199. If they do charge $299, and have a high monthly plan, it would make contract carriers more appealing in my opinion.

For $60 + tax, i'm just going to go with an EM+ plan on t-mobile with a MyTouch3G. Same cost per month but I think that as mentioned, there will not be the user base that the other phones have and so there will probably be a lack of interest in developing newer android roms.

I seriously use less than 30 minutes a month voice but tons of data so 500 minutes a month is no biggie.

Yeah, from what I've been reading a lot of people are saying it is coming soon. I even read this week! We can't count on it though. We know what has happened before.

Yeah, I agree. That's the big thing - that it's a Kyocera. I hope they stepped up and made this phone better than the others, but only time will tell.

Cricket's pretty good with that $20 off gig....

As far as a 2.1 update, if it is released with 1.6 then I'm sure the peeps over at xda will have a 2.1 ROM tutorial within days of the release.

If you really want 2.1 that bad, you have to put it in yourself. That's what I did two weeks ago with my Hero.

Guaranteed you that the local sales rep will know nothing about the product. Cricket tenRAB to give out the information like week or 2 before the product comes out. I am sure the price will be 300+ and I wouldn't be surprised if it is $400 dollars. They wouldn't have rebates at first either. I can foresee the rebates coming out during the Christmas season and I will predict that it will be $50 dollars mail in rebate or possibly $50 instant rebate/$50 Mail in. Question is, will Cricket have some control of the apps. Such as only Cricket based apps only, and who knows the true speed of 3G Cricket wireless service. The broadband card is terrible so I am slightly biased with their so called "3G".

Yep. I live in a 4G market and so far I have been pretty impressed. I get 4G about everywhere I go (except home, but i use wifi there). What really sold the deal for me was data while roaming though. With cricket I was roaming at my desk at work(on sprint). And having to get up and walk outside the building to recieve an email or MMS, got really old.
