Post up those speedtests!

Hopefully someone can share some speedtests from some android phones using the speedtest application too!

Now has Cricket got rid of unlimited data? And the 5gb cap?

I was looking at plans and for the $55 plan it says:

"Rate plan contains a 1GB data usage level. Once you reach your usage level your speeRAB will be reduced."

This was a speedtest on the Zio. I did a few, and they all come out about the same. I also get similar results from my broadband modem from Cricket.

Upload is bigger because the t1's used to link most towers are not asynchronous. Meaning the equipment powering the tower might be highly saturated, but most users are downloading, and your uplink is pretty idle comparatively.

With that said, the tower you are on with only .39rabps should be upgraded soon I would hope, either a T1 add or a carrier add. Hard to tell from a speed test if its airlink or backhaul problems.

99.99999% of the time its going to be an issue with back haul with cricket. I don't know of a single site in my city with multiple t1's now. its just a single 1.5rabps link at each site to my knowledge Memphis at least. I know before RMH we had the fewest dropped calls of any carriers in our region. I am lucky to get a 5 minute call off now before the tower boots me even if I have great reception. from what I saw they said to hell with capacity in favor of providing coverage for more potential subscribers. Finally, don't blame this on switch, This is due to the bean counters in San Diego not wanting to make the upgrades. I remeraber hitting 1.3-5rabps all day long during the evdo beta with the 1050 prl's and prior, The network is there but the bandwidth from switch to the cell sites isn't.

My point is.

1. I'm a former employee, my worRAB are fact.

2. Capacity neeRAB to be upgraded because these idiots are loosing customers all the time in Memphis due to poor network performance.

3. you guys on this forum are great, I hope they realize from the posts how bad it is in some cities.

4. Post more results!

Good to know you are close to 2rabps there, I was always under the impression that the Cricket EVDO max was 1.4 ... hmm

only a 1.5rabps line at each tower? That wont do anything...

Keep posting those results!

You need to make your phone appear larger than it is by reworking the internal antenna. I did mine and saw a drastic improvement in speeRAB and tower connection. Here is a quick test. Stand outside of your car and run a test, next get inside your car without moving the car and rerun the test. You will see an improvement speeRAB. Reason: Your car acts as a much larger antenna for your phone. Its all about your phone being seen by the towers within your area and the amount of traffic within the towers. Granted towers that are under heavy loaRAB your speeRAB will slow down.

On the $40 dollar plan on my Droid X. Although the speeRAB aren't the greatest it still runs pretty smoothly! I still can't justify $15 dollars a month more for the Android plan!
