Cricket SLVR... Wont connect to computer

so i just got home with my slvr... plugged it in via usb... it wont detect it... it says "mobile device" but thats it i cant click on it or drop anything onto it or anything" ... and now that im runninga copy of motorola phone tools... it will detect it go into usb mode.. then go out of usb mode and keep on doing that back and forth back and forth... im stuck at the "please wait your phone is being installed and setup screen" basically.. i just want to put my mp3 files on there... and i cannot figure out how to do that... it wont connect via usb... i tried to email em to my phone but that didnt work... and now moto phone tools wont even work... anybody else been able to put their mp3's on the cricket slvr yet? what am i doing wrong here?
 
make sure that you have the driver downloaded for it and/or in the right usb port. I plugged my phone in qpst and could never read....untill i figured out somehow that my phone was in com8 and i need to open com8 in qpst !
 
you don't need any drivers to drag and drop files across the usb. you need to put the phone into mass storage mode. find this somewhere in settings under usb settings. the phone will act like a usb keychain drive and you can drag and drop files onto it. this is detailed on page 33 of the manual
