has anybody connected their slvr to motorola phone tools? i tried with a friend of mines and the first time it connected but didnt have the multimedia studio option. then i tried again and it said not connected. another thing i wanted to do was raise the volume of the earpiece and outer speaker. i usually use motokit to do this but ive only used it with gsm phones, does anyone know if it would work with the slvr for cricket? or any other ways i could raise the volume for the phone? id appreciate it. thanks for any help. :2thurabs:

I'd also be curious to know the answer to this; I'm about to buy the L7c SLVR from Cricket, and want to know if it is worth buying Motorola Phone Tools. I'm sure I won't be able to use it for any of the laptop data functionality, but if I can just put my own ringtones and pictures on the phone without having to buy them from Cricket, that'll be enough functionality for me...

you don't need MPT to transfer ringtones or images to and from the SLVR. The phone can be put into a MASS STORAGE MODE, in which it functions like a generic USB card reader for the memory card inside.

There are a bunch of other useful features in Mobile Phone Tools, e.g. contact backup/sync, Multimedia Studio for chopping up ringtones, et. al. But if you just want it for the transfer save you money. It would be better spent to buy a bluetooth adapter which you can also use to transfer ringtones et. al. to, and from, the phone.

My laptop has Bluetooth 2.0 EDR built in; my Clie PDA also has Bluetooth, although not 2.0, but an older version. Would I be able to use either of those to sync files to / from the phone, rather than having to buy a Bluetooth adapter?

What limitations are there as to file types for ringtones that I can transfer in Mass Storage mode? Are MP3 ringtones possible, and if so do I have to use specific bitrates etc.? Likewise, are MIDI files possible?

yea ive used it to transfer ringtones with the data cable in storage mode but i also tried transferring about 5 cRAB to listen to on the mp3 player but not all of them showed up. and mpt i like to use to make the ringtones cuz i like to make them fade in and out. but nobody have any luck with mpt and the slvr yet?

you can send through bluetooth as a file transfer. on windows xp just right click the file you want to send, select send to, bluetooth device. if your phone is not paired you'll be able to do it from that screen.

Brilliant! :) So if I don't need the software or even the cable for sharing photos and ringtones with the phone, I guess all I'd really need MPT for is contacts. Has anybody gotten MPT to work with Cricket's version of the L7c yet?

Motorola phone tools does work with cricket slvrL7c. However it is tricky as hell.
Ill give a very brief tutorial.
When you run the program it will say "Motorola phone tools has not detected your mobile phone" Do not redetect phone. then it will say "install manually" click yes. then click next. highlight motorola usb modem, click next. then check "Do not automatically detect the driver" This is the important part. the device manufacturer and model is "motorola CDMA and the device model is V323" click next and finish. Then you will be able to use MPT. This is as far as i have gone for modding is concerned, which sucks because i would like to change themes. But thats for another thread.
one more thing.
For music in order to play on the phone it will need to be in mono. Again, it might work in stereo but works in mono for me.

I put in a 1 gig storage device in my slvrl7c cricket phone it came up as a removable storage device on my computer. I put about 100 song's on it and can play mp3's and copy them to phone for ring tones but can't cut out the parts I want with mpt and my razor wurked fine on that program but this 1 has no multimedia option!! NOW I go to put more music on it and it won't let me drop mp3's in the storage device!! I'm steal learning but f***! Biggest pain in the *** ever!
