Cricket Service in Portland, OR

Hi,

I'm thinking about making the switch from T-mobile to Cricket because I'm opening my own business and I'll be using many more minutes each month.

So, what's the service like in Portland?

Also, I'll need to use roaming when I go on day trips to the coast/hiking/etc. any tips for this?

Thanks!

I'm in SE Portland and I've had Cricket for 5 months now. My wife and I have had fun with it. It has been super-reliable (well, about as reliable as any other carrier w/ a few dropped called here and there (like once a month or so)) and have enjoyed the unlimited everything. The internet is kinda spotty sometimes but I just wait 10 minutes and it's working again.

I do not have the roaming plan though. I never go anywhere outside the coverage area though. I am under the impression that as long as you aren't too far outside civilization then the roaming plan should work fine.

Service in Portland should be fine. They've been there for a while and also have a specific group which focuses on Small / Medium Business owners. Roaming will work in most area's where other carrier's have service and where Cricket has an a roaming agreement with those carriers. Service in mountain / rocky area's will be of a lower quality then in a flat area but thats to be expected with any cellular providers service. You should also be able to test it out as when you sign up as long as you haven't had the phone more than 15 days or some nuraber of minutes (Its under 50 minutes or something i can't remeraber) You can return the phone for a refund no questions asked. (Very much so like Verizon's "Try out our network" scam they try to get ya do to, But Cricket's isn't a scam) So it should be fine.
