cricket says my phone won't work unless i have it flashed, wtf?

still haven't had time to mess with it but OTA would be nice but my first priority is to just to be able to make actual calls instead of just to 611. i'm thinking that what one of you guys said might be true that i grabbed the PRL meant for the 6700's. but i'll try that PRL poster here hopefully on friday.

ok weird stuff. i finally got around to trying to get my sanyo 8400 to work again and it works. OTA doesn't but i can make calls.

here's what i did:
called cricket and gave them the ESN
hung up the phone
made a call on my sanyo - it worked

what i don't get is that i didn't change a single thing from the last time i worked on it and the only thing i did today was give them the ESN, why would it all of a sudden work now? it still has the PRL from before, not the one from this thread.

That makes perfect sense. You still will not be able to do OTASP. In order to do that, you have to go through the phone using QPST or the phone's internal Service Programming menus and make sure all of your MDN and MIN information is entered correctly. Typically, the MDN nuraber only appears once where it specifically asks for the MDN nuraber. All other entries should be the MIN nuraber.

Right now, only your MDN is registered with Cricket. You might be lucky and be one of those customers like me whose MDN and MIN are the exact same. But that doesn't mean your phone is set-up correctly.

sorry. what i meant by it being weird is that i couldn't make calls before but now i can and i didn't change any settings or even put the PRL that was posted in this thread. i just had cricket swap the ESN again just like i did the first time.

You have to set the SPC/MSL to 000000 or the OTASP won't work when you dial *228, I've run into this a few times. Unlocking the phone fixes the problem.
