seriously. i already have one thread going but no one is replying and at this point i've changed the phone over to cricket but it's not working. now if i'm just being retarded then i can just put my cricket phone back on cricket and forget this but at least tell me if i missed something major.

phone: sanyo 8400
loaded the PRL 1040 with cdma workshop (trial) as jammis told me
called cricket and gave them the ESN

problem 1: couldn't even get 611 or *228 to dial - solution: cricket needed to plug in the correct ESN.

problem 2: correct ESN = i can call 611 and *228 but *228 says it can't be programmed and i can't make any other calls except the 2 mentioned.

i've reloaded the PRL file, power cycled the phone then attempted *228, made sure the MDN and MIN match what cricket has but entering them through ##000000# and also verifying through CDMA workshop.

cricket is now telling me i have to have it flashed but i was under the impression there is not a flash for this phone and i was also under the impression that what i have done would get the voice and text up and going.

wtf am i missing? or is this just a PITA phone?

yea i get the cricket recording but it just stops after a while and says it can't be programmed and to see some paper that i got when i activated my service or to visit the web site.

i've tried reloading the 1040 PRL so many times now and i've tried the 1039 with no luck. *2 and *22804 won't work as other posts have suggested. i'm assuming that since i can call 611 and talk to cricket there that the PRL is picking up the towers and the MDN and MIN on the phone match what cricket has. i'm at a loss. i thought this part was supposed to be relatively simple.

Did you change the MSL code to six zeros. OTA will fail if it is anything but that on non cricKet phones. It actually makes everything easier cuz the phone and software don't prompt for the code when it is zeroed out.

i only know how to do a 6700 model phone to cricket / and that would basically update or flash with a knew rom (which we are patiently waiting for) if u had a 6700 i could send u a link to get a cricket rom which would insatantly take care of everything for u/ but since u have a different model phone i cant be of much assistance sorry

the MSL / SPC or whatever code is set to all 0's on my phone. I think that something is going on with the network due to the newest upgrades Cricket has done. Guess we wait it out and see.

I had this same problem before with the vx9900 series.

Make sure you manually enter the MIN nuraber in the phone's service programming menu. Also make sure your SID nurabers are correct for your region.

When I hit Menu and then 000000 the phone service menu isn't editable. Anyway around that? I've been using LG Download to make these changes.

If you got your PRL's from a 6700 thread, that would probably cause issues. From what I understand, some special editing had to be done to those files (right?). The PRL WChrisEG posted is worth a shot.

yea i'll try the PRL posted in this thread here in the next couple days.

as for the ESN it matches, this phone has never been repaired. straight out of the box and i used it until my sprint line got shut off but it never had anything done to it by anyone but me and the only thing i did besides add phone nurabers was add some mp3's to listen to.

Try QPST. There may be some MID entries still hiding. I always find it's best to look at it from a different angle to see which MID entries I might have missed.

Also be sure to check the SID/NID pair for your region. AFAIK, you can still make and receive calls with the wrong SID/NID info, but it might affect how the phone does its OTASP.

ok you'll have to excuse me since i'm still having a hard time following all the acronyms. yesterday i went from knowing i needed a phone, cable, and computer and some software to actually getting it to be able to call customer service, not a big accomplishment but very tedious.

as for the phone, i had to switch everything back to my cheap OEM cricket phone so i had something to talk on, maybe this weekend i will attempt again. before i changed everything back to the original phone this is what i had done on my sanyo:

changed SPC to 000000
tripple checked the MDN and MIN with cricket and entered on my phone
double checked region code although the FAQ has San Diego as 04729 and the phone was showing 4729. maybe i'm remerabering the nurabers wrong but the point is the phone was excluding the 0.
there was another setting close to the region code in CDMA workshop that was supposed to be something like 633522 or something but it was correct.
i entered the MDN and MIN through the phones ##000000# menu.
i tried using the 1039 and the 1040 PRL multiple times

again, i am was NOT able to make calls except to 611 unlike some of you guys who mention that only OTA programming didn't work for you.

thanks for the help guys and i'll try to get back on this project before the weekend but my next day off is sunday. when i can get back at this i will open CDMA workshop and provide the info from my phone for the settings that you guys mentioned might be wrong so maybe the problem can be pinpointed. thanks again.

im able to do *228 and *22804 on sprint phones i flash to cricket. I unlock the SPC to all zeros then put the cricket prl on there, add the esn to their account and *228 works.

I live in San Diego and have done 5 8400's without glitch. Since San Diego is one of Crickets newest markets, OTA generally doesn't work on flashed phones. OTA works in Arizona perfectly for flashed Cricket phones, but not San Diego.

Check the ESN on the phone verses the label. It could be that the ESN on the back is incorrect (usually happens when a phone is repaired using parts from other phones). If that matches, you might have a bad 1040 prl. I had this happen one day when ALL the phones I flashed did not work on Cricket. I simply downloaded the 1040 PRL again from a good source and BAM!!!

I hope this helps :buddies:
