Cricket phone as a modem

Hi..
I am thinking of moving from my current carrier to Cricket. One thing that I do a lot is use my phone as a modem and connect to the internet via my laptop. Can someone tell me if this is possible with Cricket service?

I am interested in either the Razr or the Krzr.

Thanks much!

It's possible with some phones... not sure about the razr or krzr...

Right now, crickets data is SLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWW... However, evdo is supposed to launch soon. (It's available in a few specific markets already).

Ok...thanks for the little bit of info.

Now, does anyone else know which phones it is possible with?

Also, what markets has the EVDO been launched?

Thanks!

Most of the phones that I know of that will allow tethering are pocketpc phones which are reprogrammed from other carriers. The xv6700-ppc6700 (alltel or Verizon) and the PPC6800/mogul (sprint or alltel) both work and are world's better phone than a razr or krzr.

I am not a fan of the big, bulky phones like the 6700. I like a smaller flip phone since the primary use will be as an actual PHONE (haha) but I would like to be able to use it with my laptop to gain internet access.

I'm not quite sure about this, but you can try to flash the phone (Krzr/Slvr/Razr) to Alltel's firmware and try to tether it that way. I'm not sure if it'll work, but I've seen in the Alltel forums that they are able to tether... so it just may work. :befuddled

Don't blame me if you waste your time. Just an idea. :yummy:

I have mine working just fine. Don't mind helping anyone. PM me if ya want. I'm getting a speed of 2.4mps. Not RABL by any means and not a good source for downloading, but it works. The one thing I haven't been able to get around is using IM and videos and music. It wants to continuously cut out. But again, it is possible to get this to all work.
