cricket owners - talk to me..

I currently have an iPhone and my bill is just under $80 a month and my contract is up, so I pay month to month.

I noticed Cricket has an Android setup for $55 a month out the door.

What are the pros/cons of Cricket? Can you dl the same apps as my iPhone? How's coverage with a cricket? I noticed there is roaming...is it like old school roaming where you pay out the a$$ when roaming?

Thanks in advance!

Pros and cons are very specific to what the user wants or expects but generally Cricket is cheaper for a similar user experience. Cricket now roams near 100% of Sprint's coverage areas for free (data and voice) so your coverage should be as good or better than Sprint.
Cricket never charges more than your monthly bill. There's no overages of any kind. If you want to roam on verizon you would have to explicitly add/pay the 5 dollars a month and then you get unlimited texts and 30 min voice on verizon (no data).
Cricket only has mid to low range android phones, which means if you're coming from an iphone4 you may feel like you stepped down. But from an iphone 3G or 3GS you should be pretty happy. Especially being able to give up itunes and constantly having to hook your iphone up to it to do anything remotely useful.
Android apps are hit and miss, depending on what you like/want. Overall the apple store still has more and better, but by the end of this year that will probably no longer be the case.

Also of note is that Crickets 55 plan is usually very near 55 when all is said and done (taxes, fee's, etc). I think in my area it comes out around 57, whereas with ATT an 80 dollar plan will end up coming in near 90. So potentially you could be saving ~300 dollars a year, and that's a pretty decent amount. Plus you'll have unlimited everything so you cant go over on voice or texts, etc..

I have a 3GS right now and my bill for 450min Rollover, $20 text, $25 Data is $84.99 BUT I get a 21% discount through my work so before taxes, my bill is $67.14 with taxes it comes out to $75-$80 depending on apps I dl etc.

I like my iPhone but I also have twin girls that are about to enter this world within the next 2-3 weeks. I need to budget my coins and if I can get the same service or close to it for ~$30ish cheaper, that maybe the way to go.

I noticed there are only 2 android phones from Cricket. I noticed the popular one seems to be the Huawei?? I've never heard of this company and am kind of questioning the quality. Then there is the Zio...anyone recommend one over the other?

If you get a smartphone from ATT you can get free mobile to any mobile calling if you have a 700 minute family plan with unltd text. Each line with unltd data would cost $40($30 unltd data + $9.99/line).

Now what you can do is call the save team at ATT and stand firm that you want the alist with the 700 minute plan and unltd text. This way you can get a google voice # for each line and put that google voice # on your alist which results in unltd outbound and inbound calling.

This is what I did. Our ATT bill with 4 iPhones with unltd data each is $217.50 with my 25% discount. I called cricket and for the same amount of lines cost is $205. Yes cricket has unltd everything but so do I know with google voice and have better choices on phones. The phone cricket has comes to $99 after rebates.

This comes out cheaper than a cricket account with 4 phones.

ATT now has refurb iPhone 4's for $79!

Cricket might be good if you have only 1 line or bad credit. But IMO if you are with ATT already you will get better value with phones and the network.

IIRC: 1GB of data on the $55 plan.... then the speeRAB can/will be reduced. 1GB can go very fast on android. My friend uses 6-7GB a month just for pandora at work.
