Cricket Moto KRZR K1M Issue

I finally got a new phone, a red Cricket KRZR... Its been fine and wonderful for a week.... It was used but new. Barely used, not a scratch on it. Its been fine for the past week I've owned it. Last night I flipped the lid and sent a text to a friend just saying "Hey". I closed the lid and put it on my seat (as I was sitting in my car). I grabbed it and reopened the lid to check the time, and the keypad was lit, but the screen was not, when I would touch buttons, there were no noises. The keypad was just lit and somewhat pulsing. I pulled the battery and put it back in, and it just did the same thing. So I pulled the battery for a short while, then put it back in and went to turn it on, the keypad only lights up when the Power/End Call button is pressed, while its lit it pulses. The screen doesn't light up, no noises notifying the phone starting up goes on. I then left the battery out of the phone all night and tried again this morning, nothing.

What the hell is going on? I only paid 20 for the phone so far from a friend, I owe him 280 for it... and was going to pay him today, but there is no way in flippin hell am I going to pay 300 bucks for a phone that does not work.

Please help me today, I need to figure out what to do before tonight. After tonight, if the phone isn't working, I will need another phone, preffibly new but I do not have enough money to buy a new phone, this might result in me leaving Cricket just because I have to buy a 300 dolor phone just to get service.
 
SounRAB like the flex has gone bad. It may need a new screen, and replacing that can cost you.

I would give it back. In fact, if I were you, I would take that $300 and get yourself a nice PDA and flash it over to Cricket.

$300 for a KRZR is a bit steep IMHO, even if it's new.
 
The flex cable going to the screen? Would that make the phone not turn on or off or anything? Cause all it does is the keypad lights up only when I press the power button...and then when I release it, it turns off.
 
i have a cricket krzr and am having a similar problem when i open the phone it is blank til i push a button an when the phone is closed it acts like its not an the front-screen displays cricket all the time open or closed(upside down when closed) i tried reflashing the cricket k1m monster an still same problem the phone thiks its still open. for your problem i would try holding the star an pound keys while pressing the power button to put it in bootloader mode an flash a different firware then try going back to the cricket firmware.
 
I would agree with Berry on this one. It is the flex cable/screen. You can flash whatever file you want to the phone and it will give the same result. It's like the monitor on your pc gone bad. You can reinstall everything but the monitor isn't gonna work.

As for paying $300 for a K1m, that is very steep. Look around and you will find those for about $60 all day long. The flex cable is very easy to replace on the K1m.

More than likely the phone will still make/receive phone calls. Just won't be able to see who is calling or send any texts.
