This list does not mean you will get EVDO via *228, it just means that EVDO has been verified. It may require you to load a EVDO PRL to get service.

I live in the Kansas City, Mo area. I have done the *228 and am not getting an evdo signal as of yet. Is there a way to know what the evdo prl will be and is there a way to get ahold of it manually or just have to wait and keep trying the *228?

Thanks

I know what you should NOT do, and that is JACK this thread. If you have a question about a touch, then your best bet would be to go to the PDA subforum and post in the touch threaRAB there. Later.

I have the 1050 prl loaded on my phone which is an xv6700 as well, but am not getting a good signal, and no evdo signal what-so-ever. I am in KC, Mo.

Any ideas?

I apologize. My intentions were NOT to hijack this, or any other thread. Am just trying to make sense of things. I am still having troubles with the evdo however.

I figured out how to "force" it into evdo mode. I finally got it working with the 1050 prl. Just don't have the best signal, but it does work for me.

Thanks for the info.

don't do the *228 well, a lot may have changed since i was using the 6700, but when i would do *228 it would send me the 1040 prl. I think it was because they hadn't launched evdo here "officially", but since i've been seeing that we're getting cricket broadband it's probably released by now

I did run into a problem with the 1050prl. I would put me into evdo and let me call and send text, but it wouldn't receive any calls or texts what-so-ever. I know this due to the fact that I had a friend try to call me and it went to voice mail and my phone didn't ring at all.

Anyone have any ideas on this?

Dude, you need to contact me. I'm in K.C. too, and you doing what you are doing in this thread is not going to get you any help....quite the opposite actually.

Try flashing changing your HDR Settings to automatic and then switching to only. If that does not work you might try flashing to sprint then back to your rom of choice.

I can confirm, San Antonio has EVDO-0... Did a *228 yesterday on my touch, now has that lovely EV! It's a shame its Rev-0 and not Rev-A... Anyone know if Rev-A is comming?

soon. most markets will be able to be upgraded to rev. a via a software upgrade on the switches. unfortunately some of the early test markets are not software upgradeable and will require longer for new hardware installation (supposedly).
the biggest holdback for most markets tho is getting more backhaul capacity (or so i was told)

true that...i'm in houston and when i go out to my parents house, all the cricket towers are down and i'm roaming on verizon...

glad i still have my wifirouter here so i can get online...

too bad they capped the evdo speed on phone accounts...man- i really need a workaround for that...wish they would let us add the broadband for $5-10/month!!!...i'd gladly pay that...

I'm still seeing reasonable speeRAB on Cicket Broadband in Houston; it's not as good as I had hoped.

Also, what kinRAB of charges do you incur when data-only roaming on Verizon? Are they outrageous?

my guess, and this is just a guess, is that cricket is capping phone accounts that go through the proxy...they seem to be leaving aircard accounts wide open...

can anyone confirm this???

i think they don't want their network being sluggish for aircard customers because a bunch of phone customers are using the broadband in excess...

also, has anyone here tried running cricket data through their own proxy???...i'm thinking about setting up a hottproxy on my home desktop so that i can connect through that instead of cricket's proxy which is slightly limited...
