Cricket in Chicago

I've been seeing these bilboarRAB around the area na never bothered going there, or made the connection to Cricket...they today I saw a car covered with Cricket branding and put two and two together...hmmm.

Did they build their own network here or is it an MVNO?

The network was built by Cricket. MetroPCS builRAB their own networks too. They wouldn't be able to charge the prices that they do for Unlimited service if they were relying on someone else's towers.

They have roaming agreements in place with one another as well. So when I visit Chicago in a few months, I will be covered :).

Cricket tenRAB to build a network out before launching. They don't rush anything. I am starting to think they are the blizzard of cell phone companies. If there chicago launch is anything like the Vegas launch things should be pretty solid.

those rumors all come from haters, cricket is a class act. they launch a market pretty damn close to full capacity unlike some other unlimited providers.
coverage is almost never an issue within the stated coverage area. in central california there are even places that cricket recieves coverage that the other, bigger, providers have no reception.

I am in Chicago for the launch and have been around the city abit and coverage is really good. Havent been everywhere of course but from what I have heard the network is very solid. Wireless card works great too.

No not in the metro forum... I have read there are a lot of dead spots... So how is it here?? I have not seen anyone report anything on cricket here in Chicago since its launch?? Not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing...

I strongly agree with your statement.

Cricket takes there time builRAB out a network then releases, even with there phones, if it doesn't past all there testing, then they won't release it. MetroPCS has released a few phones that did not pass cricket's testing, and guess what, they have issues.

I live in Vegas and the coverage is very good. Every carrier has dead spots, but I have yet to find a place in Vegas where my phone doesnt work.

As to Chicago their coverage is also very good. I wasn't all over the area when I was there last week, but never had any issue. Their network is huge there.

As soon as I can get some money put aside, I plan to get an aircard, so I can use the internet when I want to away from home. I'm also surprised that they have EVDO for Chicago, when all they have is 10mhz for most of the Great Lakes region (not counting smaller licenses in PCS and/or AWS in that same region).

Only problem I see so far is there customer service sucks!!! No offense to anyone but I'd like to talk to someone at least here in America when I call.. Cricket customer service barely speaks english...

Another quick ?... Can MMS be sent and received by all the major carriers to and from cricket?? A friend of mine has US Cellular and said it wont let him send MMS to my cricket phone???
