Cricket in Chicago

So I think I found a cellular company to steal me away from us cellular. Apparently they are almost ready to launch in chicago. I tried putting in my zip code and instead of saying the usual, "sorry we don't offer service there" now it says "sorry we dont offer that plan there, why dont you try another". It looks like it should list plans but it wont display anything.

but who cares, its coming shortly :-D :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping: :clapping:

EDIT: http://www.mycricket.com/community/search lists chicago and my town (southern suburbs) w00t w00t time to get a flashin.

I loved when I had Cricket. But I hated adding minutes to my account to use the phone. So I won't be going back. But having to worry about nothing was awesome!

I like that coverage map. I am in the newly launched Milwaukee market and often I am driving to O'Hare, Waukegan, Chicago, etc... so this would only help...

Also, T-Mobile is planning a $49.99 unlimited NATIONWIDE plan, launching in 11 days.

Has anyone here in Chicago area gotten cricket yet? I'm curious to know how the coverage compares to Verizon or US Cell here?? When cricket roams who do they roam off?

I read they're going to be available in the Chicago subway. Which makes Cricket only the 3rd carrier to do so. AT&T, T-Mobile, and Sprint are not in the subway, only US Cellular and Verizon.

This is pure rumor and I doubt very much that it will happen. Even the rumors (which again, are completely unconfirmed) are talking about it like it is a promotional offer for very loyal customers and not necessarily something that everyone can sign up for.

Sorry to post so much but i can actually purchase a plan! its showing up in my zip and everything. go meeeeaaaaat!

edit: I bought service, i wonder if im the first in the chicagoland area?

Chicago is an AWS market, so you won't be able to use flashed phones unless they come from MetroPCS (and most of the models are shared between the companies).

I just read this press release though and it sounRAB like they really pulled out all of the stops for this launch. They're not launching with a small footprint and expanding over time, it sounRAB like the network is already almost completely done!

This is the right way to do a launch!

I just ordered my cricket phone. It shall be here in a few hours. Hurry your butt up FEDEX! (I work for UPS so im a bit biased). Any specific questions anyone wants to know?

I want to know how reception is here in Chicago in comparison to the US cell that I see you have?? Reliability is key...

I read Cricket also will provide service in the Chicago Transit Authority's underground lines. I wish MetroPCS would do this in with MTA in New York . This must be very expensive. Also MetroPCS customers can upgrade their AWS phone prl by dialing *228 option 2. Customers can now use their phone in the Chicago area.

Curious to know if there are a lot of dead spots in chicagoland area... I have read that there are a lot of dead spots out in Vegas with cricket...
