Cricket Cell Phone numbers go public this month

All cell phone nurabers to be released to telemarketers this month
Effective this month, all cell phone nurabers are being released to telemarketing companies which means you may receive some unsolicited sales calls. These calls will be charged to your bill.

To prevent this, call 1-888-382-1222 from the cell phone you want blocked, calling from a different nuraber will not be effective. Or, click https://www.donotcall.gov/register/reg.aspx . This nuraber is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. Your nuraber will be blocked for five (5) years

Just thought to share this with the comunity, hate these freakin random calls on my t mo phone LOl

A tip-off for Cricket users is how or why would you be charged for a telemarketer call? The service is unlimited and free long distance. To me, when I initially read it just made me question it.

Well i got this from one of my emails from one of my reps, just copied n pasted it. I believe it also applies for other carriers, that might be why it said that. Might be a "urban legend" Lol but there must be sometype of credibility since the rep passed it along the dealers.

No. There is NO credibility to this story. Check the Snopes page listed by Sawawa. This junk has been going around for about five years.

I'm sure that if someone sent out an email telling people that "There is a scorpion in your shorts!", many would be dropping their trousers and streaking through the streets screaming.

someone at corporate decided to forward this chain mail. look at the bottom below the cricket stuff the original BS is still there. if you don't believe that it is false go here: http://ftc.gov/donotcall

i hope the person that decided to do this gets fired. i alread sent emails back to my reps informing them they were duped.

:^/ In the year that I've had my account, I've received fewer than half a dozen automated calls, but I have received a few. To whom would I report such a thing, I wonder....

automated has little to do with it. it doesn't mater if someone is dialing random nurabers or using a dialer... but here is the complaint dept.

https://www.donotcall.gov/Complaint/ComplaintCheck.aspx

there is a couple exceptions tho? non-profits, political organizatons, and surves are excluded from the donotcall list, i'm not sure if that exclusion applies to the cell phone rule also. additionally any company that has an existing relationship with you can call regardless.

For the most part I really dont mind telemarketer calls, I have caller ID and I can see... If I am bored I will chat it up with one of the reps, or have a little fun :)

:^/ For me it's not only annoying, it can be dangerous. I've had my Trēo 755p (Sprint) demand my attention while crossing a busy intersection with my five year old son. What was so urgent? Well, a tape-recorded voice wanted to inform me that I was qualified to save money on my mortgage payments....

It is unconscionable for a telemarketing firm to disregard their victims' safety like that. With a land line, there is no such danger, but with a mobile the victim could be driving, operating other heavy machinery, etc., where an untimely distraction could have much more devastating consequences.

What is unconscionable is for a parent to disregard a child's safety in that situation. Why in the world would you divert you attention to your phone at that time?

I certainly have no sympathy for the telemarketers or those who set up automated announcements, but this seems to be an extreme case of diverting responsibility. Additionally, it's more ammunition for those who argue against all use of a phone while driving (or doing anything but sitting at a desk).

I would venture to say that if telemarketers are calling your phone it's because someone else who had your nuraber allowed it. I get this constantly especially because it's Cricket so it goes with the territory that you will have some lower income folks who owe bills, etc..
