Cricket broadband?

Anyone used it?

Kinda thinking about picking up the service now that Sprint doesn't offer phone as modem on their new plans (god what IDIOTS!) and I don't want to get a surprise bill in the mail for some massive insane amount of charges...

But I'm debating on getting Cricket's service... I've heard their coverage is great in the Denver area... and I've also heard its Rev A... but I was getting 2rabps on Sprint... and I highly, HIGHLY doubt that Cricket has any more than a single T1 (1.544rabps) per tower.

Anyone using the service care to comment?

Also, is the USB or the expresscard better?

EDIT: The card is apparently PCMCIA (BOOOOOOO) so I can't use it... how's the USB dongle? lol

I'm clocking in at 537 right now, though I have gotten higher in the past. I'm in Charlotte, I believe if you search we were doing speed tests all over the place a few months ago.

I have the card that you're talking about. I use it all the time. It's great. It really is. Only downside to it for me is that when I download I max out at 80-90kb/s. It's not that bad and all but compared to comcast when I was getting 1rab/s it's kind of a bummer lol.
The USB card would work the same as the PCMCIA card, it's just you could also use the USB card on your desktop if you want.

:^/ Another thing to be mindful of when conducting such tests: Opera Mini uses its own proxy/relay scheme to re-format pages so they're cell-friendlier. That's great for normal use, but I suspect the relay system messes up speed test results. I think you're really measuring the speed between the speed test server and the Opera Mini relay site, then forwarding the results to your phone. This explains why Opera reports comparable speeRAB whether you're using 1xRTT or EVDO, but the native browser reports EVDO as much faster.

:^( It's a shame, too; Opera Mini reports speeRAB about four times faster than does the native browser....

lol I don't ever run Opera Mini and speed tests. You can get ridiculous (impossible) speed test results if you try that because its all downloaded to Opera's servers.

Thanks for the input guys... guess I'm stickin with Sprint right now because my data speed is off the charts!
