Well, ive tried 4 diff programs to try to send/receive IMs, Agile Mess. Slick, IM+ and the built in MSN mess. none of them work. I have tried Connecting to the internet then trying still nothing. I have searched and it doesnt give a clear answer if it can be done or not, I know theres ebuddy, but nothing compares to just full out IM program. Do i have to add something to my proxy settings or something of the like? Please and thanks!

not wanting to drag on the topic but also want u not mad, i did a search on cricket for 'instant message' there was only 4 topics and none of them said that, just all saying just use ebuddy

buddah, directly from the FAQ stickied at the top:

Q. Can I check my Email or Instant Messages on Cricket?

A. Cricket blocks all ports on WAP except 80 and 8080. Therefore to check email you have to use webmail. Instant Messaging applications also do not work, however text based such as AIM will work properly.

cant u get instant messaging apps on the nokias?
well i got Ev-Do an i think the posts are still only 80 and 8080.
also does anyone know y Opera Mini dont work?
i have full unrestricted browsing and ev-do

I believe that Opera Mini does not work because there is no way to configure it to use an http proxy.

IE works because it follows the global proxy settings in Windows Mobile, which we set to an http proxy of wap.mycricket.com:8080.

Opera Mobile for Windows Mobile works, but only if you're using version 8.60beta2 or older, which has a place to specify proxy settings.
Version 8.65 does not have any place to specify proxy settings, and last time I tried, it did not work, which means it was not following the global proxy settings in Windows Mobile.

I wonder if IM would work if we could find a mobile IM client that could be configured to use an http proxy. Hmmm, I think I'll try connecting my computer to the internet through my mogul, and see if I can get my desktop AIM to connect, since I can tell it to use an http proxy.

i've used opera mini on a proxy. cingular WAP uses a proxy, and i've also used opera mini on a vpn connection through a http proxy.

the CDMA side may be different, but there is connection settings in opera mini, and just set it to use The Internet connection and it should use whatever settings you use to get to your proxy with.

I have been using Opera Mini on both the 6265i and 6275i from Nokia since it came out. Unfortunately only the JAVA enabled phones will work with it. I do not know on the K323 if Opera supports it or not. There is no special setup required as long as you have web browsing enabled on the phone.

well thats the thing i have a Motorola Slvr L7c from cricket flashed to Telus (Java Enabled) with full data working so i installed opera mini but it has trouble making a connection and im subscribed to CricKets Mobile Web Package and the openwave browser works fine

Check the Opera settings and set the proxy port to 80 or 8080. You may also need to add the proxy address: wap.mycricket.com

Good luck!
